SouthCoast high school scores and highlights from Friday, Jan. 13

Here's a look at the scores and highlights from Friday's high school action on the SouthCoast.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Apponequet 55, Old Rochester 41

Nate Levesque was a force in the post with 10 points and 19 rebounds. Logan Miller added eight points and 12 rebounds while Caiden Cyr contributed nine rebounds. “The Lakers played with great intensity against a very good ORR team,” said Apponequet head coach Jim Cabucio. “The Lakers did a great job with team rebounding and controlling the tempo of the game while earning a hard-fought SCC win.” Josh Keller had 16 points and six rebounds while Jackson Gagnier had 10 points and five assists. For Old Rochester, Liam Geraghty had 14 points while Jacob Smith added 10 and Braden Yeomans had eight. The Bulldogs (6-3, 4-2 SCC) host Case on Tuesday. The Lakers (4-4, 4-2 SCC) host GNB Voc-Tech on Tuesday.

Wareham 83, Case 32

Four different players reached double digits in scoring for Wareham. Ajay Lopes and Diego Mello had 16 points apiece. Mello was 4 of 6 from long distance while Lopes also had seven assists and five steals. Aaron Cote chipped in with 13 points while Antoine Crosson had 10 points and 10 rebounds. “I thought we came out and did exactly what we were supposed to do tonight,” said Wareham head coach Steve Faniel. “We played with the right amount of energy, we dug in defensively, we got out in transition, and we shared the ball. Everyone got involved, everyone contributed, all 12 guys scored.  All these guys practice so hard it’s nice when they can all get in the game and contribute.” The Vikings (7-1, 7-0 SCC) visit Fairhaven on Tuesday.

Old Colony 63, Norfolk Aggie 36

Trevor Taveria scored 20 points to lead Old Colony. Max Finney had 11 of his 14 points in the third quarter. Ryan Scott added 12. The Cougars (6-2, 2-0 MAC) travel to Upper Cape on Tuesday.

Dighton-Rehoboth 65, GNB Voc-Tech 62, 2OT

Jhden Reis led the Bears with a career-high 19 points and seven rebounds while Cam Morin had seven points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Tyler Dubois chipped in with 11 points, four rebounds and three assists and Curran Farnworth had six points and 12 assists. “The Bears lost a heartbreaker in double overtime to Dighton-Rehoboth,”” said head coach Rob Delaleu. “The Bears had plenty of opportunities but missed key layups and free throws down the stretch of the game. The Bears had their chances but went 7 of 24 from the charity stripe.” The Bears (4-7, 2-5 SCC) visit Apponequet on Tuesday.

Dartmouth 63, Bridgewater-Raynham 56

Hunter Matteson racked up 37 points to power Dartmouth to its fifth straight win. Adam Mogawer and Aiden Smith had nine points apiece. Dartmouth (10-1, 4-0 SEC) visits Bishop Connolly on Monday at 2:30 p.m.

Cardinal Spellman 53, Bishop Stang 45

Daejon Gibson led Stang with 20 points and four assists while Sage Baptiste chipped in with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Seekonk 46, Fairhaven 38

Ryan Ptaszenski knocked down five 3-pointers en route to a team-high 17 points. Tyler Chang and Isaac Petruski added seven points apiece. The Blue Devils (4-6, 1-5 SCC) host Wareham on Tuesday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Bishop Stang 47, Cardinal Spellman 30

Molly Sisson had a monster game in the post with 12 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocks. Bridget Markey had 17 points, four steals and three blocks while Kate Carreau added 10 rebounds. Sophie Caldwell, Kendall Riedl, Cianna Sylvia, and Maddie Azzara all contributed to a great team win at Spellman, according to head coach Julie Letourneau. The Spartans (7-2) face Cathedral at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at Emmanuel College.

New Bedford 46, Durfee 32

Behind a balanced scoring attack, the Whalers beat previously undefeated Durfee for their first conference win of the season. Vanessa Bucha had 15 points while Zaria Anderson added 12 and Lexi Thompson chipped in with 10. New Bedford (6-2, 1-2 SEC) hosts Brockton on Tuesday.

Old Colony 45, Norfolk Aggie 39

Hailey Hathaway notched a team-high 21 points while Izzy Hougasian and Olivia Perry added 11 points apiece. Old Colony (5-4, 1-1 MAC) visits Upper Cape on Tuesday.

Bridgewater-Raynham 45, Dartmouth 35

Kat Cheesebro led Dartmouth with 14 points and seven rebounds while Lily Gangi added seven points and five rebounds. Dartmouth was tied with B-R at 18 at halftime. “Good battle against a great team,” said head coach Brian Jalbert. “We kept it tight most of the game and they pulled away in the fourth. They played so well, but I couldn’t be more proud of our girls' effort tonight. We played much better and we played tough. We just ran into an outstanding team tonight.” Dartmouth (6-5, 1-3 SEC) hosts GNB Voc-Tech on Friday.

Seekonk 48, Fairhaven 33

Maya Medeiros scored a team-high 18 points while Ava Morrison added seven. The Blue Devils (1-9, 1-5 SCC) visit Wareham on Tuesday.

Dighton-Rehoboth 52, GNB Voc-Tech 29

Laila Pires led the Bears with 15 points. Voc-Tech (1-9, 1-6 SCC) hosts Apponequet on Tuesday.

GIRLS SWIMMING

New Bedford 100, Middleboro 81

Cynthia Torres, Serenity Coleman and Annabelle Huston each won two events to power undefeated New Bedford (6-0). Torres was first in the 200 freestyle (2:14.18) and 100 backstroke (1:10.61) while Coleman was fastest in the 200 (IM (2:28.00) and 100 butterfly (1:04.45). Huston won the 50 freestyle (28.09) and 500 freestyle (6:20.04). Other winners were Caroline Huston in the 100 freestyle (1:03.72) and Trinity Coleman in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.29). The Whalers also won the 200 freestyle relay (1:53.56) thanks to Trinity Coleman, Caroline Huston, Mackenzie Baggs and Annabelle Huston. Trinity Coleman led off with a sectional-qualifying time of 26.83. New Bedford took first in the 200 medley relay (2:03.92) thanks to Torres, Trinity Coleman, Serenity Coleman and Baggs. Annabelle Huston, Caroline Huston, Torres and Serenity Coleman won the 400 freestyle relay (4:13.94).

BOYS SWIMMING

Middleboro 92, New Bedford 71

For New Bedford (2-4) Alex Conde won the 200 IM (2:19.39) and 500 freestyle (5:55.52) and swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:53.22) along with Jake Gioiosa, Owen Jupin and Cairon Nunez. Gioiosa won the 100 backstroke (1:13.43) while Nunez was first in the 100 breaststroke (1:20.05).

COED SWIMMING

Archbishop Williams 83, Bishop Stang 74

Winners for Stang were Kevin Santiago in the 200 IM, Emily Donatio in the 100 breaststroke (sectional-qualifying time of 1:17.13) and Maddy Bashour in the 200 freestyle.

BOYS TRACK

Fairhaven 67, Seekonk 18

The Blue Devils got wins from Toby Lawrence in the 55 (6.8), Richard Senna in the 300 (41.9), Ethan Nault in the 600 (1:39), Adin Monroe in the 1,000 (3:12), Maison Sweet in the mile (5:08), Harrison Zheng in the 2-mile (13:08) and Jaren Megan in the high jump (5-4). he Blue Devils (3-1, 3-0 SCC) face Case on Jan. 18 at GNB Voc-Tech.

Southeastern 70, Bishop Stang 30

Winners for Bishop Stang were Andrew Fortin in the 600 (1:30.91) and Jacob Cookinham in the shot put (64-04.50). The Spartans will compete against West Bridgewater on Jan. 19 at Wheaton College.

GIRLS TRACK 

Fairhaven 57, Seekonk 28

Winners for Fairahven were Bella Menard in the 1,000 (3:55), Emma Flannery in the mile (6:39), Kate Flannery in the 2-mile (15:34), Laura Hubert in the hurdles (10.1) and Sophia Fleurent in the high jump. The Blue Devils (3-1, 3-0 SCC) face Case on Jan. 18 at GNB Voc-Tech.

Southeastern 71, Bishop Stang 24

Leah Butter took first in the mile (6:08.35) while Julia Downey won the 55 hurdles (10.81) for Stang. The Spartans will compete against West Bridgewater on Jan. 19 at Wheaton College.
