SouthCoast high school scores and highlights from Tuesday, Jan. 25

Here's a look at the scores and highlights from Tuesday's high school action on the SouthCoast.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Wareham 82, Fairhaven 60

The Vikings were determined to redeem themselves after losing to the Blue Devils earlier this season on the road and Wareham delivered on its home court. “We wanted to come out and just hold our own on the boards and get into our up-tempo game,” said Wareham head coach Steve Faniel. “I thought for the most part we controlled the pace of the game. We also shared and moved the ball pretty well which opened up some lanes to the basket for us.” Ajay Lopes was a rare 16 of 16 from the foul line en route to a team-high 24 points. Diego Mello (15 points), Daejon Gibson (13) and Aaron Cote (11) also reached double digits in scoring. “He was in attack mode all night and he also got his teammates involved in the game as well,” said Faniel of Lopes. “We really shared the ball tonight (and) got everyone involved. When we are getting four or five in double figures, we are hard to guard and we are at our best.” For Fairhaven, Peter Joseph Jr. scored 24 points and Jack Cunha added 13. The Vikings (8-5, 6-1 SCC) visit Dighton-Rehoboth on Thursday.
