SouthCoast high school scores and highlights from Thursday, Feb. 16

Here's a look at the scores and highlights from Thursday's high school action on the SouthCoast.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Dartmouth 53, Middleboro 49

With 28 points from Kat Cheesebro, Dartmouth punched its ticket to the playoffs. Abbie Zuber added nine points. “Nice to qualify for the tournament,” said Dartmouth head coach Brian Jalbert. “Happy for our seniors, Maddie Pyne, Abbie Zuber and Alex Cojocaru, to get a win on Senior Night. They’re great kids, and have given us everything they have for four years. I so appreciate their effort every day.” Dartmouth (10-7, 2-5 SEC) faces Oliver Ames at noon on Saturday in the St. Mary’s of Lynn tournament.

GNB Voc-Tech 68, Wareham 61, OT

Kaira Dubois had 26 points and eight steals to power the Bears (4-16, 2-13 SCC) to their second straight win. Dubois scored nine points in overtime to seal the victory. Olivia Reis added 16 points while Casalice Dias chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Div. 5 championship

Wareham’s boys 4x200 relay squad of Aiden Robert, Nate Wiley, Arman Araujo and Gabe Silva earned a third-place medal and a trip to the Meet of Champions next Saturday with a school-record time of 1:34.75. Silva was eighth in the 55 (6.81) and 12th in the 300 (personal-best 37.10) and Fredi Gakidis was eighth in the high jump (4-8). Other top finishers for the Vikings were Jared DeMello in the shot put (14th; personal-best 41-09.25), Sienna Cabe in the 55 hurdles (11th; 9.57) and Arman Araujo in the 55 hurdles (11th; 8.69). The girls 4x200 squad of Alexis Pettersen, Cabe, Jayla Fernandes and Jelissa Torrence placed 15th with a personal-best 1:55.95,

BOYS HOCKEY

D-R/Seekonk 3, Bishop Stang 1

John Goll scored his first varsity goal assisted by Aiden DeCourcey and Adyn Simmons as Stang lost in the opening game of the Spartan Cup. The Spartans (5-11-1, 2-0-0) will face Lowell Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
