SouthCoast high school scores and highlights from Friday, May 13

Here's a look at the scores and highlights from Friday's high school action on the SouthCoast.

SOFTBALL

GNB Voc-Tech 3, Somerset Berkley 1

Lena Tsonis slugged a home run and had two RBIs to help lead the Bears to their 17th win of the season. Kylee Caetano was 1-for-3 while Madison Medeiros was 2-for-3 in addition to allowing one unearned run off four hits with two walks while striking out four over seven innings. The Bears (17-0, 9-0 SCC) visit Old Rochester on Monday.

Seekonk 7, Wareham 1

Carly Delago went 1-for-3 while Jenna Klemp allowed three earned runs off eight hits over seven innings. The Vikings (5-9, 1-9 SCC) visit Dighton-Rehoboth on Monday.

New Bedford 11, Bishop Stang 1

Lilly Gray was the winning pitcher, throwing a two-hitter with 15 strikeouts, two walks and one run. Sydnee Ramos had a big day at the plate with three hits, including a home run, triple and single with two RBIs. Amelia Davis also had three hits (double and two singles) with three RBIs and JJ Greene added two hits with two RBIs. For Stang (3-11, 2-6), Katie Manzone went 1-for-3 with an RBI while Mikayla Brightman was 1-for-2 with a walk and run scored. Grace Motto and Avery Clough both went 1-for-2. The Spartans visit Arlington Catholic on Monday. The Whalers (9-5, 2-2 SEC) host Durfee on Monday at 4 p.m.

Old Colony 9, Upper Cape 4

Abby Orzechowski struck out 10 while allowing three earned runs off six hits with two walks over seven innings. She also went 1-for-2 with a walk. Angel Polangcos (1-for-1 with a walk, RBI and run scored), Felicity Kulak (1-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a stolen base) and Patty Spillane (1-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored, two stolen bases and a walk) also contributed. Polangcos was strong at shortstop, saving multiple runs. The Cougars (4-9, 2-6 MAC) visit Tri-County on Monday.

BASEBALL

GNB Voc-Tech 7, Somerset Berkley 6

Nolan Hoffler scattered five hits while allowing three earned runs in seven innings. Noah Mello, Nate Roderiques, Illiam Santiago, Ezequiel Alves and Kolbey DesRoches each had two hits for Voc-Tech. The Bears (5-11) host Old Rochester on Monday.

Old Colony 17, Upper Cape 0, 5 Innings

Chris Hedlund had a big day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a double, triple, three runs scored and four RBIs. Kyle St. Jean (2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored), Matt McGuiggan (2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored), Collin Tetrault (2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored), Mason Santos (1-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored), Chase LaFountain (run scored), Trevor Taveira (2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored), Jaryd DosAnjos (1-for-2 with a triple and run scored), Ryan Silva (1-for-2 with an RBI and Aven Beauchemin (two runs scored and an RBI) also contributed. St. Jean pitched a complete game, allowing no runs off three hits with no walks and seven strikeouts over five innings. The Cougars (8-6, 7-1 MAC) host Tri-County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at Pope Park.

Dighton-Rehoboth 5, Old Rochester 3

Defensive mistakes cost the Bulldogs, who out-hit D-R 8-5. Owen Bates had a three-run home run in the first. Alec Marsden was 2-for-4 while Lucas Mello had a double. Ethan McElroy, Lucas McElroy, Zack Matson and Brady Dias each had a single. Mello allowed four runs off three hits with six walks and four strikeouts over 4.1 innings. Matson allowed one run off two hits and one walk with four strikeouts in 2.2 innings of relief. The Bulldogs (8-7, 5-4 SCC) visit GNB Voc-Tech on Monday.

Apponequet 4, Fairhaven 2

For Fairhaven, Colby Correia and Cam Gordon (RBI) both went 1-for-3. The Blue Devils (8-6, 3-5 SCC) visit Bourne on Monday.

BOYS LACROSSE

Old Rochester 14, Apponequet 13, OT

The Bulldogs won in overtime to capture the season sweep of the Lakers. Apponequet (9-3, 6-3 SCC) was led by Vinny Olivieri (four goals), Jake Cusson (two goals and three assists), Kenny Wisniewski (three goals), Sean DelGuidice (two goals and an assist), Harrison Lemieux (one goal, one assist) and Justyn Hooper (one goal) while Hunter Owen made 13 saves.

Dighton-Rehoboth 10, Fairhaven 9

Leading the way for the Blue Devils (7-6, 4-5 SCC) was Cadence Chase with three goals and two assists. Owen Centeio (one goal, one assist), Peter Joseph (one goal, one assist), Tyler Burke (goal), Justin Marques (two goals), Cameron Burke (assist) and Barrett Becotte (goal) also contributed offensively while Shea Cripps made 10 saves.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Old Rochester 20, Apponequet 10

Maddie Wright notched nine goals and five assists while Kelly Quinlan added eight goals to power the Bulldogs. Caroline Brogioli had two goals while Rosemary Lally added one. For Apponequet (8-5), Abby Vincent and Emilia Keane both had four goals while Abby Bradley and Abby Menendez each had a goal. Allison Arruda had eight saves in net. ORR (13-2, 7-0 SCC) faces Bourne on Wednesday.

Bishop Stang 7, St. Mary’s 7

Leah Katz scored a team-high four goals while Sierra Da Rosa added two goals and one assist. Teal Galligan (one goal), Sydney Plouffe (one goal), Sofie Doucet (four assists and five draw controls) and Hannah LaFrance (three draw controls) also contributed for Stang (1-11-1, 1-6-1 CCL).

BOYS TENNIS

Fairhaven 3, Bishop Stang 2

The Blue Devils swept singles action with wins from No. 1 Kole Pinto over Elijah Swift (6-2, 6-4), No. 2 Isaac Petruski over Brendan Resende (6-1, 6-4) and No. 3 Coby Yin over Trevor Squire (6-0, 6-4). For Stang (6-5, 6-4 CCL), the first doubles team of Matthew Carusi and Christopher Pacheco beat Liam Reynolds and Chris Hu (6-4, 7-6 (7-1)) while Scott Carter and Noah Yetman were 6-2, 6-4 winners over Noah Pacheco and Jacob Medeiros at No. 2. The Blue Devils (11-4, 9-2 SCC) face Case on Tuesday.

Fairhaven 5, Seekonk 0

The Blue Devils (10-4, 8-2 SCC) got wins on Thursday from No. 1 Kole Pinto (6-3, 6-1), No. 2 Isaac Petruski (6-1, 6-0), the first doubles team of Coby Yin and Chris Hu (6-0, 6-1) and the second doubles team of Noah Pacheco and Liam Reynolds (6-0, 6-1).

Westport 4, Wareham 1

Seamus Braley won at second singles (6-0, 6-1) for Wareham (2-14, 0-9 SCC).

GIRLS TENNIS

Wareham 4, Case 1

In her first time playing No. 1 singles, Saige Galhardo won 6-0, 6-0 for the undefeated Vikings (16-0, 12-0 SCC). Wareham also got wins from Evelyn Francis at third singles (6-3, 6-2) as well as the first doubles team of Allison Sciaraffa and Olivia Powers (6-0, 6-1) and the second doubles team of Chloe Hogan and Fredi Gakidis (6-1, 6-2).

Bishop Feehan 3, Bishop Stang 2

Bishop Stang’s first doubles team of Jenna Domagala and Maeve Egger won 6-2, 6-3 while Lilly Manning and Holly Eyre were 6-4, 6-3 winners at No. 2. The Spartans (11-3, 8-3 CCL) face Dartmouth on Tuesday.

Wareham 5, Westport 0

Giuliana L’Homme with her best match of the year at third singles to win 6-3, 6-2. Brooklyn Bindas won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles while Giuliana L'Homme won 6-0, 6-4 at second singles. The first doubles team of Mackenzie Brodley and Olivia Powers won 6-2, 6-0 while Fredi Gakidis and Allison Sciaraffa were 6-2, 6-0 winners at No. 2.The Vikings (17-0, 12-0 SCC) will host Bourne on Monday.
