Southeastern Louisiana football's Cole Kelley signs as UDFA with Washington Commanders | Report

Former Teurlings Catholic quarterback Cole Kelley has signed as an undrafted free agent with the Washington Commanders, according to NFL Network.

Kelley, a redshirt senior at Southeastern Louisiana, won the Walter Payton Award as the top player in the FCS in 2020 and finished second in 2021.

At 6-foot-7 and 260 pounds, he was a three-star recruit and the No. 2 quarterback in Louisiana in the 2016 Class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He then committed to Arkansas and spent two seasons with the Razorbacks before transferring to Southeastern in 2018.

Kelley has put up astronomical numbers the past two seasons. He threw for 5,125 yards and 44 touchdowns and completed better than 73% of his passes in 2021. He finished his Lions career with 8,602 yards passing and 72 touchdowns in three seasons.

His consistent production, when given a chance to start, was even apparent in high school, throwing for 6,183 yards and 55 touchdowns in his final junior and senior seasons. He also played basketball for Teurlings, averaging 19 points and 10 rebounds as a junior.
