Southern California restaurant chain wants you to switch to hotcakes for National Pancake Day

A Southern California staple is getting into National Pancake Day and wants the public to convert to a new way of thinking.

NORMS, the beloved diner chain with locations throughout the greater Los Angeles area, will be among the many restaurants, including IHOP, to join in on Tuesday’s unofficial sweet breakfast holiday.

But instead of offering a free stack of pancakes, NORMS is offering its signature hotcakes, which it boldly claims are “fluffier, tastier and better.”

“Our team at NORMS has been serving superior hotcakes in Los Angeles for nearly 75 years, so its safe to say we’re the experts,” said David Cox, the company’s vice president of food and beverage and corporate executive chef. “When considering why NORMS hotcakes are better than pancakes, it starts with our batter, which is made with a proprietary blend of flour, fresh buttermilk, and farm fresh eggs. This blend produces lighter and fluffier hotcakes that are the perfect balance between sweet and savory.”

Instead of National Pancake Day, NORMS wants hungry guests to join the church of hotcakes and celebrate “National Hotcake Day.”

Diners are encouraged to find out for themselves and settle the debate “once and for all.”

The free stack of hotcakes are for those who download the NORMS app and become loyalty members.

NORMS has been slinging hotcakes for nearly 75 years. Its first location was located in Hollywood at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street. The company currently operates 23 restaurants across Los Angeles County and is in the process of expanding with a new location in Las Vegas opening soon, according to its website.
