Southern comfort, soul food restaurant relocating in York County

THE CITY OF YORK, Pa. (WHTM) — A locally owned southern comfort-style restaurant will soon be moving to a bigger and better location in York.

Skillet2Plate Soul Bistro first opened its doors back in February of 2020. This local eatery is owned and operated by two Philadelphia natives named Terrence and Lauren Days, who moved to the Midstate back in 2013.

In addition to their soul food-style eatery, the Days are also the owners of the York-based Sara Ellen Event Venue, which they opened in 2021.

Currently, Skillet2Plate Soul Bistro can be found in an approximately 1,500-square-foot space at 221 West Philadelphia Street. However, according to Lauren, she and her husband are soon relocating to a larger space a few blocks down the road.

Their new space, located at 361 West Market Street in York, will more than double the size of their current establishment; coming in at approximately 4,000 square feet.

The new location will be capable of seating of seating over 100 guests at a time, with 35 seats at the bar, 40 seats in the dining room, 40 seats at the indoor courtyard, and 30 more seats at their outdoor dining section.

Skillet2Plate Soul Bistro is most known for offering a wide array of Southern comfort foods, such as crab cakes, baked mac & cheese, fried chicken & waffles, shrimp & grits, and a lot more! If you want to check out their full menu, you can click here.

In addition to in-house dining, this eatery also offers take-out, delivery, and catering opportunities.

According to Lauren, Skillet2Plate Soul Bistro will reopen its doors at the new location on Friday, March 1. Once open, the new location’s hours of operation will be:

  • Wednesdays – Thursdays // 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Fridays – Saturdays // 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

  • Sundays // 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“[Opening at the new location] is scary but it’s also exciting! I am ready to open this new location so more locals can dine in,” Lauren added. “I am just really excited to finish this move and get back to serving.”

Upon its relocation, Skillet2Plate Soul Bistro’s previous location will be closing its doors. Currently, the owners are hiring for multiple positions for the new location and if you are interested in applying you can click here to apply on Indeed.
