Southern gospel group Sojourner Quartet to perform at Zion Church in Wauseon, Ohio

WAUSEON, Ohio — Sojourner Quartet, a Southern gospel music group, will perform a concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at Zion United Methodist Church in Wauseon, Ohio. The church's address is 4533 County Road 11, which is between Fulton County Roads D and E, and is 2 1/2 miles south of State Route 2 (Airport Highway).

There is no charge for admission to the concert, a news release from the church said. A love offering will be taken. Refreshments will be served following the concert.

Sojourner Quartet is based in Findlay, Ohio, and includes Jim Visser (lead), Chris Horne (tenor), Mark May (baritone) and Larry Counterman (bass). The group formed in 1991 as a contemporary Christian group who played their own instruments and wrote many of the songs they performed, the release said.

“As their popularity spread, they began to play throughout the country,” the release said. “In 2007, the group went solely Southern gospel.”

As their ministry grew, the gospel group shared the stage with many of today’s top Southern gospel groups. Several of their songs have been released on Southern gospel radio stations and have made the charts in both the United States and Europe.

“These four men are completely devoted to Jesus Christ, not only through their music ministry, but through their personal lives,” the release said. “Their mission is to glorify God the Father by witnessing the Gospel of his Son, Jesus Christ, to as many people as possible through their music and personal testimony.”
