Southern Indiana pilot taken to hospital after crashing homemade plane

A person was taken to a hospital in Louisville after crashing a homemade plane in southern Scott County.

Deputies from the Scott County Sheriff's Office were dispatched around 7:22 p.m. Tuesday to the Scottsburg Municipal Airport where deputies located a homemade ultralight plane, according to a news release.

The pilot, who was flown out by air ambulance to a Louisville-area hospital, is in unknown condition, officials from the Sheriff's Office said. Their identity has not been released.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are handling the investigation, according to the release.
