Southern Miss' Jeff Mitchell to be named Ball State athletics director | Report
Southern Miss deputy athletics director Jeff Mitchell is expected to be named Ball State's athletics director, according to ESPN.
Mitchell spent five years at USM after being hired in August 2018, focusing on managing the daily operations of the athletics department.
Mitchell was a key cog in revenue generation at USM, assisting in the planning and development of $7.5 million in facility upgrades, including an 18,000 square foot academic center, a new synthetic turf baseball field, a basketball court re-design and LED lighting system, among other things.
Mitchell will replace Beth Goetz, who was hired as deputy director of athletics and chief operating officer at Iowa.
