Southern Pines Healthy Pet Clinic expanding, will open second location

Southern Pines Healthy Pet Clinic is expanding again, this time with a second location.

The clinic will open the midtown clinic at 203C South 40th Ave., in October, said Dr. Alicia Fortenberry, veterinary medical director.

The new location will provide the same low-cost surgeries to the Hattiesburg-area community while the current downtown location at 1304 Hardy St. will continue to offer wellness services.

This will allow the clinic to expand its services and surgeries for its pet patients, Fortenberry said.

The midtown location will have two surgical suites for spay and neuter services and other pet surgeries.

In addition to providing surgeries, the midtown clinic will operate a call center to handle the hundreds of calls received each day.

The clinic has hired new staff, who will be trained in the coming weeks, to assist callers with information, scheduling appointments and other pet needs.

The midtown building also had enough room for much-needed office and meeting space.

The downtown clinic will be adding more exam rooms later this year, Fortenberry said. Dental services will remain at the downtown clinic since they require different equipment.

"A big thanks to all of our clients and supporters," Southern Pines staff said on Facebook. "This new endeavor would not be possible without your patronage and support.

"Thank you for believing in our mission to provide accessible veterinary care to our whole community, and thank you for entrusting us with the care of your pets."

Southern Pines Healthy Pet Clinic is a nonprofit facility that is part of the Southern Pines Animal Shelter. In addition to shelter and veterinary services, Southern Pines operates two thrift stores that help fund the shelter.

The clinic is open 7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

In addition to the brick-and-mortar services, Southern Pines also hosts pop-up vaccination and wellness clinics in other cities in the Pine Belt.
