Southern University narrows down search for new chancellor
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Southern University met Friday to continue their search for the campus’s new chancellor. They conducted interviews online, making the decision to move forward with four out of the six candidates.
With Dennis Shields still being in position, he has faith that the search committee will make the best decision.
Chair of the Chancellor Search Committee Revathi Hines says that they were pleased with the interviews, and has high expectations for what they can offer to the Southern University community.

“We had a pool of qualified candidates from diverse backgrounds, and they came to the table with creative and innovative solutions to push Southern University further into excellence. As a team the committee has made great progress and we are all very excited to take this search process into the next phase,” said Hines.
The four candidates will visit the campus for semi-finals next month to meet and speak with the student body and community. A decision on who will become chancellor will be that following week.
