Southwest Airlines is offering 40% off tickets to celebrate 52 years of flying
Southwest Airlines is selling tickets for 40% off in honor of its 52nd birthday.
The carrier said it will celebrate 52 years of flying on June 18 and is offering sales and sweepstakes throughout the week leading to that anniversary.
“In true Southwest style, we’re celebrating with heart all week long with one of the largest sales of the year, week-long sweepstakes, and more fun opportunities leading up to our 52nd birthday and our established national day, Wanna Get Away Day, on June 18,” Jonathan Clarkson, vice president of marketing at Southwest Airlines said in a statement. “Wanna Get Away Day is an annual celebration that allows Southwest to bring together its customers and employees to commemorate our rich history and iconic Wanna Get Away campaign.”
Southwest’s 40% off sale
If you buy a new Southwest flight before 11:59 p.m. PT on Thursday, you may be eligible for 40% off the base fare if you use the promo code 40OFF.
The fine print says that travel must take place between Aug. 15 and Dec. 14, and the deal is blacked out Nov. 16-27.
Seats eligible for the discount may be limited on certain flights and during some busy travel periods, and the deals are not available every day. Full terms are available on Southwest’s website.
Wanna Get Away Day Sweepstakes
On top of the discounts, Southwest is offering prizes through June 18 including 10,000 Rapid Rewards points to 10 entrants and a free round-trip ticket to one winner and their guest every day.Check the airline’s website for more details about the sweepstakes and the full list of prizes.
