From Napa Valley to New Orleans, America offers an abundance of destinations for couples seeking romantic experiences. While these same destinations continue to dominate the market for good reasons, many couples have been on the quest for lesser-known, yet equally enchanting locations for their romantic getaways.

Locally in Southwest Florida, Naples grabbed a spot on a massive poll of America's favorite 'alternate' romantic destinations, landing in the 31st spot.

Travel website for couples Honeymoon Always commissioned a poll involving 3,000 couples to ascertain which alternative romantic destinations they are most eager to visit this year. From the results, they found 175 cities across the country that couples wanted to explore on their next vacation.

Naples among top places to live: Naples is 6th best place to live, according to U.S. News & World Report. Sarasota is 5th.

How did Naples earn its spot on top alternative romantic destinations?

Naples came in 31st on Honeymoon Alway's list. Perched on the Gulf of Mexico, organizers said Naples earned its rank due to its "charming and idyllic setting that makes it an excellent alternative romantic destination for couples."

Known for its sunsets, sandy beaches, and luxurious resorts, they further elaborate that Naples provides a perfect blend of natural beauty and sophisticated elegance. Couples can embark on an array of activities, such as sleisurely strolls hand-in-hand along the iconic beaches, taking in the panoramic views and gentle ocean breezes.

They also highlight the city's vibrant arts scene and cultural attractions, such as the renowned Naples Botanical Garden, which offer couples the opportunity to immerse themselves in beauty and inspiration.

What other Florida cities made the list?

Out of the 175 U.S. cities, only one other Florida made the list of top alternate romantic destinations. It also claimed the top spot on the entire list.

The historic St. John County city of St. Augustine came in first place for Honeymoon Alway's poll. Organizers write that this city offers a romantic ambiance like no other, with its rich character, quaint cafes, and a picturesque waterfront.

They add that the city’s scenic coastline provides breathtaking sunsets, pristine beaches, and opportunities for romantic walks along the shore.
