Southwest Michigan Symphony presents Rhythm in Tandem as part of its Pop Up! Concerts

ST. JOSEPH — The Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra’s Pop Up! Concerts series continues with a performance by Rhythm in Tandem at 4 p.m. June 9 in the garden of the Maud Preston Palenske Memorial Library, 500 Market St.

A bassoon and piano duo based in Kalamazoo, Rhythm in Tandem features Helen Lukan on piano and Wendy Rose on bassoon. The program includes works by Galbraith, Elgar, Albert, Gershwin and more.

The rest of the series follows:

• 4 p.m. June 16: Bennett Duo performing a variety of classical, fiddle, Irish, jazz and popular show tunes at the Maud Preston Palenske Memorial Library.

• 4 p.m. June 23: Quartet of Irina Kagan, Nick Orbovitch, Sean Diller and Sara Thomas, with a program of a Shostakovich String Quartet plus a mix of light classical and pop, at the Maud Preston Palenske Memorial Library.

Summer fun: 2022 South Bend festivals and concerts to keep your summer full of fun

• 4 p.m. June 30: Aubergine Brass Quintet at the Maud Preston Palenske Memorial Library; program to be determined.

• 5:30 p.m. Aug. 4: Richard Neckerman and Helen Lukan performing music selections such as “Hyfrydol Aspects,” “Sound of Silence,” “Tumpeter’s Lullaby” and a piano solo on the Green at the Krasl Art Center, 707 Lake Bluff Blvd.

• 5:30 p.m. Aug. 11: The Norwood Trio, with “In the Garden” musical selections, at Krasl.

• 5:30 p.m. Aug. 18: Brandon LePage and Rachel Miller, with a dance-themed program, at Krasl.

• 5:30 p.m. Aug. 25: Brook Bennett, Mark Portolese, Sara Churchill, and David Machavariani perform Franz Shubert’s Cello Quintet in C major, D. 956, at Krasl.

Bring a chair or blanket to sit on.

The Lost Coast Shave Ice food truck will be on site and will offer selections for purchase, or bring your own food and beverage.
