On March 2, Kyiv Commercial Court ruled to award Ukrainian company “Старлінк” (Starlink in Cyrillic script) with “Старлінк” trademark. In response, SpaceX has now lodged an appeal with Kyiv’s Northern Commercial Court of Appeal.

According to the case file, Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) initially filed a lawsuit against Starlink LLC and the State Organization Ukrainian National Office for Intellectual Property and Innovations with the Kyiv Commercial Court.

The plaintiff demanded early partial termination of the Ukrainian certificate for the Starlink trademark. However, the court dismissed the claim in full.

According to the report, the Ukrainian namesake company suffered a DDoS attack shortly afterwards.

In turn, Space Exploration Technologies filed an appeal with the Northern Commercial Court of Appeal. The plaintiff requests to cancel the decision of the Kyiv Commercial Court and make a new decision that will satisfy the claim in full.

The case will be heard on May 16.
