Spaghetti dinner planned to support local girl
WAYNE TWP. ― The Shoaf Memorial Spaghetti Supper is an event to honor the memory of Marc Shoaf with proceeds being held in trust for his 5-year old daughter, Gwen, for her schooling and future endeavors.
In March 2023 Shoaf died at age 33, leaving his family and friends devastated.
Member of the dinner committee Sadi Starmack said Marc always hoped that Gwen would go to college so they want to help make that dream come true
Starmack and Shoaf were friend since middle school and Starmack's father, Ted, describes Marc as like a member of the family.
"He was always at our house with my daughter and son every day. No one ever dreamed he would be gone so young. There were 300 people at the funeral. I never saw anything like that before," Ted said.
Sadi Starmack describes Marc as an outstanding individual who always took the time to make everyone feel important and he was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, camping and hiking, and he was a fly fisherman. He also played darts at Oak Grove.
"He played football in high school and liked sports, but football the best and was a big Steeler fan. He was the life of the party and every one gravitated to him," Starmack said.
After graduating from Lincoln High School in 2009, Shoaf received a nursing degree in 2013 and worked at his profession.
The spaghetti dinner committee hopes to make the dinner an annual affair.
The dinner includes pasta, salad, roll, dessert, coffee, pop, water. Takeout will be available. Only 200 dinner tickets will be sold.
There will be one door prize and tickets will be sold for the basket raffle.
Starmack said that every donation, no matter the amount, will help them to fulfill their mission.
