Spain hit by hottest pre-summer heatwave in 20 years

STORY: Spain's national meteorological office (AEMET) said the country was sweltering in the worst pre-summer heatwave for the past two decades.

Temperatures reached 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) in the Guadalquivir valley and the nearby city of Cordoba in the south of the country, AEMET said.
