Sparkly whites shine at "Give Kids a Smile Day"

Students at the Gaines Dental Hygiene Clinic at MSU Texas are perfecting their technique while providing free services to children Monday and Tuesday at the "Give Kids a Smile Day" event.

It was clean teeth all around for kids 4 through 12 Monday as dental hygiene students performed services under the supervision of faculty members and a dentist.

The project not only brightens smiles and lives, it also helps the hard-working students meet graduation requirements specifying they treat this age group of patients.

The free services available for signed-up kids include a dental cleaning, bitewing X-rays as needed, preventative sealants as needed, an exam by a dentist and a written referral for needed treatment will be provided for each child.

The dental clinic offers services primarily in the interest of educating and training students, including treating adults. The clinic is in Centennial Hall on Louis J. Rodriguez Drive near Hampstead Lane.
