An extreme 5K is coming to Raymond James Stadium on Saturday, May 13, that will have participants running up and down the steps of the stadium.

“Make sure your quads and calves are in tip-top shape, these stairs are no joke,” said a statement from the organizers of the Spartan Race, a well-known brand of endurance races.

Joe De Sena, founder of Spartan and the Death Race, has hosted more than 200 events in 40 countries and is also the New York Times-bestselling author of “Spartan UP: A Take-No-Prisoners Guide to Overcoming Obstacles and Achieving Peak Performance in Life.”

Spectator passes are $10. Race entry starts at $144 at race.spartan.com. Or, for a $100 donation to the nonprofit Rise Tampa (risetampa.org), you can receive an entry ticket to participate in the race and a Spartan Race T-shirt.

The public is invited to help raise money for the nonprofit Rise Tampa Police Foundation at Rustic Steel at 3919 N Highland Ave. between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. May 8-11.

For a $25 minimum donation to Rise Tampa and proof that you are a first responder, military personnel or member of law enforcement, you receive a complimentary entry ticket to participate in the Spartan Race.

The race starts at 8 a.m. May 13, and at 2 p.m. there will be a fly-over by the Tampa Police Department. Belinda Womack will sing the national anthem before honoring fallen police officers.
