"I am grateful for all the opportunities in my life because they have led me to the place I am today," Davis said in an email. "First, I am thankful to the Lord for his love and guidance, for my family and their support, for the staff and administration at Chapman High School, for all my former staff, teachers, and mentors in sister districts, and ultimately (Spartanburg District 1 Superintendent) Dr. Mark Smith, District One leadership, and the District One board of trustees for this opportunity to lead the students, teachers, and staff of Chapman High School."

"I am humbled by this opportunity because I believe that the best leaders are those who continually serve others, work hard, lead by example, and are a blessing to everyone they come in contact with. Being in education for all these years has taught me many things, the most important being (to) love others."
