Bed Bath & Beyond located in the WestGall Mall is among 87 stores scheduled to close as the retailer tries to save the financially troubled company through bankruptcy protection.

The home goods company also announced the closure of five BuyBuyBaby locations, along with all of the company's beauty brand Harmon.

Spartanburg's Bed Bath & Beyond and North Charleston's BuyBuyBaby are the only two stores in South Carolina on the list to close.

The company said the closures expand an ongoing program to close 150 of its lowest-performing stores. It had previously announced the shuttering of 62 stores in September, and 56 more in January.

The third quarter results provided earlier this month showed the company's net sales have declined 33% ($1.259 billion).

Managers at Spartanburg's location said they are unaware of future circumstances, such as when the final day will be and when liquidation sales will begin.
