Spartans' Erica Houge, Aaron Hill named ISC South Player, Coach of the Year in girls basketball

Collins-Maxwell junior point guard Erica Houge and head coach Aaron Hill were named the girls basketball Player and Coach of the Year respectively in the Iowa Star Conference South Division for the 2022-2023 season.

Junior forward Chloe Wierson joined Houge as a first-team All-ISC South pick and senior forward Mary Staudt was named honorable mention on the ISC all-conference teams.

Houge averaged 22.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.0 steals and 4.5 assists in 12 ISC South games. Hill guided Collins-Maxwell to a share of the ISC South championship after the Spartans went 11-1 in the conference to tie Baxter for first.

Wierson joined Houge on the All-ISC South first team after averaging 17.7 points, 12.4 rebounds and 3.7 steals in conference games.

The other ISC South first-team selections were Baxter's Emie Tuhn, Mandee Selover and Bree Buswell, GMG's Mariah Stonewall and BCLUW's Sydney Anderson.

The All-ISC second team was made up of Baxter's Abbie Meyer, GMG's Adelyn Sienknecht and Reese Dieleman, BCLUW's Grace Farnsworth, North Tama's Ava Breakenridge and Meskwaki's Kalayna White.

Staudt averaged 1.5 points and was a valuable weapon on boards for Collins-Maxwell, averaging 5.1 rebounds in conference games.
