ST. LOUIS — The FOX 2 and KPLR 11 Honoring Black History special takes a look at people making a difference in their communities. Our first feature is about the Portfolio Gallery, the first African-American owned gallery in the St. Louis area. It opened 35-years ago.

Host Chelsea Haynes heads to the Confluence Academies, where they’re celebrating Black history all month, and all year. Learn more about these schools at confluenceacademy.org.

Plan a visit to the Griot Museum of Black History to see the contributions to the St. Louis community that can still be felt today. The museum opened in 1997 and is small and mighty, with a big story. Plan your visit today.

The Field House Museum was once a home to columnist and poet Eugene Field. Many people don’t know about his father Roswell Field who took on Dredd Scott’s lawsuit for freedom before the US Supreme Court. We explore his story during this special presentation.
