This is a very special week here at WBAL-TV as we celebrate an extraordinary milestone: 75 years of broadcasting in Maryland. It all began on March 11, 1948, when WBAL-TV hit the airwaves from its North Charles Street studios, and the rest, as they say, is history -- and what a history it has been. Right from the beginning, our founder, William Randolph Hearst envisioned serving the community through the medium of television.
