Spectrum outage causing internet problems in Cincinnati area Wednesday morning

Update, 11:40 a.m.: Spectrum said the issue was a minor issue impacting less than 50 contained to a small area downtown, and has been resolved.

Original reporting: Spectrum has reported an outage for some customers in the Cincinnati area Wednesday.

A message on the My Spectrum app confirms the outage interrupting services, and the last update at 8:39 a.m. estimates the problem will be resolved by 11 a.m.

Cincinnati is also showing up on the heat map of user-reported outages and problems of DownDetector, a platform that tracks when services go down or have outages. Other cities that may be affected by a Spectrum outage showing up on the heat map include the Columbus and Indianapolis areas.

Michael Pedelty, the Southern Ohio Region senior director of communications at Charter, which is a trade name for Spectrum, said there is currently no widespread outage in Cincinnati Wednesday morning, and the tools they use to detect outages differ from those used by Down Detector.
