Speeding Brooklyn driver blows through red light and crashes into car, critically injuring woman, video shows

A 32-year-old woman is clinging to life after the car she was riding in was struck by a speeding driver who blew through a red light in Brooklyn early Monday.

The victim was riding north in the back seat of a Honda Accord on Bedford Ave. when the car was struck by a Dodge Charger flying west on Dekalb Ave. about 12:25 a.m., police said.

Surveillance video shows the Accord slowly entering the intersection only to be T-boned by the speeding Charger, which blew through a steady red light. The Accord spins around from the impact, crashing into a parked white van and mounting the sidewalk.

“I heard it,” said Amanda Jennings, 36, who lives in a brownstone next to the crash scene. “I heard a loud screech and a crash.”

The victim, who was ejected from the Accord, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, officials said.

The 22-year-old man driving the Charger was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition. The man driving the Honda, also 22, is also in stable condition.

There were no immediate charges but the crash is still being investigated.
