Police were surprised when they stopped a speeding driver at a McDonald’s drive-through and found a 15-year-old boy behind the wheel.

The teenager was spotted recklessly driving a Renault Clio in Oldbury, West Midlands, in search of a late-night snack on Tuesday evening.

Traffic officers waited until he had turned into a branch of McDonald's and pulled over the vehicle as it approached the drive-through window.

Officers immediately seized the car when they found out the boy’s age and took him home to his parents.

Sharing details of the incident on Twitter WMP Traffic wrote: "We saw this Renault Clio speeding in Oldbury.

"When it drove into McDonalds we spoke to the driver who turned out to be just 15!!!

"The car was seized & he was taken home to be reported in front of his parents. He wasn’t ‘lovin it’ then."

West Midlands Police had to deal with another teenage driver breaking the rules on the same day.

They stopped a 17-year-old who was speeding while his mother was “supervising” him in the passenger’s seat.

WMP Traffic added: “We stopped this BMW for speeding in the early hours. The driver was 17 & only on a provisional licence with no ‘L’ plates.

“His mother was ‘supervising’ him despite knowing about the L’s & that he wasn’t insured. The car was seized & they were both reported for offences.”

It was a busy Tuesday for police, who also managed to track down a stolen VW Golf.

Officers detained two people who were in the vehicle.
