These spellers are competing for the Carlsbad Spelling Bee title
Carlsbad's best young spellers will compete for the spelling bee title this week.
The Citywide Spelling Bee is scheduled for 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at the P.R. Leyva auditorium. The public is invited to watch.
Winners will compete in the El Paso Regional Spelling Bee.

2021, Grant Canon won the spelling bee after five rounds, defeating fellow student Ailyah Harper.
Carlsbad's Liam Nyikos won the local spelling bee several times, and went on to compete in 2017 at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
