Take a spin on these 9 outdoor ice rinks in Oklahoma this holiday season

For Oklahomans who enjoy lacing up their skates, getting outside and taking a spin on the ice, the holidays are truly the most wonderful time of the year.

Since Oklahoma's winter temperatures stay relatively mild, outdoor ice rinks are rare, but they do pop up in some of the Sooner State's larger communities around Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's.

Here are nine rinks where Oklahomans and their holiday visitors can get on the ice this season:

Devon Ice Rink

When: Through Jan. 29.

Where: Myriad Botanical Gardens, 125 Ron Norick Blvd., between Reno and Sheridan.

The Devon Ice Rink returns for its 11th season in the Myriad Gardens, offering 5,500 square feet of real ice, glittering lights and seasonal food and beverage offerings in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City.

Yukon Ice Rink

When: Through Jan. 2.

Where: Chisholm Trail Park, 500 W Vandament Ave., Yukon.

The 4,200-square-foot ice rink is part of Yukon's Christmas in the Park, billed as the state's largest drive-thru light display.

Edmond Ice Rink 

When: Through Jan. 15.

Where: Mitch Park, 1501 W Covell Road, Edmond.

Zip and glide across the real ice at the rink next to the silo in Mitch Park. The rink also is adjacent to Edmond Electric's annual Luminance holiday lights display.

Norman's Crest on Ice

When: Through Jan. 8.

Where: Crest Foods, 2550 Mt Williams Drive, Norman.

For the second year, the grocery store is inviting skaters to the 4,200-square-foot rink in its parking lot.

Chickasha Festival of Light Ice Rink

When: Through Dec. 31.

Where: Shannon Springs Park, 2400 S Ninth St., Chickasha.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Chickasha's nationally renowned lights display has added a variety of attractions over the years, including a Ferris wheel, carousel, carriage rides and an ice-skating rink that is open throughout the festival's season.

15th annual Arvest Winterfest

When: Through Jan. 8.

Where: Outside BOK Center, 200 S Denver in Tulsa.

The downtown Tulsa holiday festival includes a skating rink, towering holiday tree and weekend festivities ranging from horse-drawn carriage rides and free live entertainment to the Winterfest Express Train and Sundays with Santa.

Holiday on Ice in Downtown Enid

When: Through Jan. 7.

Where: 400 S Independence.

For the third year, Garfield County seat is hosting an outdoor ice rink between the Stride Bank Center and the art installation Under Her Wing was the Universe.

Broken Arrow's BA Ice Rink

When: Through Jan. 2.

Where: 418 S Main St., Broken Arrow.

It's the seventh season for the 4,200-square-foot real ice rink in Broken Arrow's Rose District. The rink is off of Main Street under the Farmer's Market Pavilion.

Bartlesville's Christmas in the Ville

When: Through Jan. 1.

Where: Outside Union Depot, 201 S Keeler Ave., downtown Bartlesville.

Along with skating, the rink provides a focal point for downtown Bartlesville's ongoing seasonal festivities, including carriage rides, movies in the park, Santa sightings and more.
