New spin equipment and spin class comes to Waynesville Rec Center

Feb. 16—The Waynesville Recreation Center is upgrading its spin room, including seven new exercise bikes, thanks to thanks to a $10,000 bequest from the family of the late David Feldman.

Feldman was a well-known regular at the Waynesville Rec Center.

"He was an avid user of the facility and loved to exercise," said Waynesville Rec Director Luke Kinsland.

When deciding what to use the money for, Kinsland identified the spin room as not only a top need of the rec center, but one that could be achieved with the amount of the bequest.

The spin room has been remodeled with the installation of mirrors and the purchase of seven new Keiser M3i spin bikes.

The rec center has added a spin class by a certified spin instructor to its program line up, held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday beginning February 14. The class will be "climb and intervals" set to music and the intensity is customizable so people of all fitness levels enjoy a great workout. It'll be about an hour with safety, warm-up and cool-down.

The spin room is also available for working out anytime during regular hours.
