SPIRE to host RC Sailing National Championships in September

Aug. 23—The Western Reserve Model Yacht Club will host the RC Sailing National Championships from Sept. 21-25 at SPIRE Institute.

The American Model Yacht Racing Association classes to be contested are Soling 1 Meter (39-3/8 inches, 10 pounds) and Micro Magic (21 inches, 1.9 pounds.). Each is powered only from wind, with no motor or propeller.

The event will draw competitors from 14 states and one from New Zealand.

Racing on Sept. 21 will feature boats racing in pairs. Micro Magic boats will then race for two days, Sept. 22-23. Sept. 24-25, the Soling 1 Meter boats will race for their national championship.
