Spiritual healer Letao Wang discusses his gift, what 2024 holds

A man who has devoted his life to spiritual healing says 2024 promises to be a year of abundance − and karma.

Letao Wang, founder of the Healing Kingdom, said he does not view himself as a "fortune teller" but rather as someone who uses a combination of horoscopes, tarot readings and numerology to help others forge their own illuminated path.

"With these, I channel profound, deeply personal messages tailored uniquely for each cherished client," he said.

A native of Beijing, China, Wang lives in Hong Kong. He left a career in banking to pursue spiritual healing more than a decade ago.

Wang said he grew up in a traditional Chinese family.

"At that time, you know, China was very closed off and I had no knowledge about what spirituality is, and of course, you know, my parents never really taught me anything about that," he said. "I remember when I was in a high school, it was the first time I actually heard about meditation. I didn't really grow up with a so-called 'spiritual culture'."

Upon graduation, Wang informed his parents that he wanted to attend college overseas. He moved to Japan where he earned a bachelor's degree in English.

"After that, I felt there was still a lot more that I want to experience outside China, so I got into a grad school in Australia," Wang said. "And that's when I encountered my first spiritual teacher, who was a very famous fortune teller in Sydney. That encounter completely just opened the door for me. That was also the first reading session that I have received in my life and that just opened my eyes, and so slowly, I studied to learn about astrology and parallel astrology, which was actually my teacher's specialty. And that's how It all started. Of course, I was still working in the corporate world back then because I was not sure that this would be become my career because, you know, you have expectations from parents and from society."

He also holds master's degrees in counseling from Monash University, and in translating and interpreting from Maquariue University, both in Australia.

In 2020, Wang was named the Spiritual Guide of the Year 2020 by Hong Kong's Liv Magazine. In 2021, he was named the Best Astrologer and Tarot specialist by Hong Kong’s Most Outstanding Business Awards.

Wang said he began taking his interest seriously in late 2014.

"It became very very clear in my mind that this is what I want to do, and this is what I'm also gifted in doing," he said.

A member of the Hong Kong Society of Counselling and Psychology and the Australian Counselling Association, Wang said he applies the some of the same methods with clients that psychologist and psychiatrists use.

"The blockages that they have really trigger back to their history," he said. "And I think this is very common. When we go to see a psychologist or a counselor, a very common thing that they will ask us is, 'Tell me about your childhood. Tell me about what kind of family you grew up in.' Our relationships with our parents and whether we felt secure in our childhood. And I think a lot of the healing needs to be started from whether we can acknowledge that history and whether we can accept that history."

Readings are tailored to the individual

Wang said the tools he selects to use during a reading depends on the individual. He is the creator of a tarot deck, Oracle of the Mythic Heroes, and plans to publish two books next year.

"I'm a certified counselor, so my purpose of doing readings is not a really about making predictions," he said. "My purpose is to achieve the so-called therapeutic purpose, or the counseling purpose. And so, based on the diagnosis with my clients, I will make my own decision. it's a sort of like a natural natural process. I will make the decision in my own mind on what method that I need to use in order to help this clients in the best way. So, sometimes it I will use astrology, or something more.

"When I talk to the client, sometimes the clients might have their personal preference. For example, let's say a client might have seen a tarot reader in the past and she might have had a bad experience. And she might say, 'I don't want to use tarot because last time I saw a third reader and I just didn't like it.'"

According to Statista.com, a survey taken in 2022 revealed that about 25% of Americans said they believe in astrology − namely, that the position of stars and planets can exert an influence on people's lives. Half of those surveyed said they didn't believe in astrology, while another 22% said they were not sure.

"I think a lot of people don't really understand how astrology works, and the reason is is because they don't really understand the concept," Wang said. "For example, one of the typical arguments that they might have is 'how can the movement of the stars in the sky affect me? I'm a living being not controlled by the the stars in the sky.' And they are absolutely right. The stars don't control our lives and we also don't control them, but it's about the fascinating synchronicities between the sky and what is happening on the earth.

"There are a lot of different rules in the universe, and a lot of things coincide; there's a very fascinating synchronicity there. And so by watching the, the night sky and by watching what is happening up there, and we will get an idea about what's happening actually down here. So we're really using astrology as a reflection."

Wang contends that astrology is not really about prediction.

"I think a lot of people are a little bit against it because they feel that, they don't, they don't want their life to be controlled by anything," he said. "And again, they (stars) don't really control us. I think it's all about using it as an effective tool for our personal growth development. And so if we can use this in a very productive and in the right way, astrology, kabalistic studies and reiki, and all these kind of esoteric studies can contribute to us, depending on how we use it."

Eight: A sign for infinity

Wang expressed optimism for the new year.

"I'm very much looking forward to 2024," he said. "In terms of numerology, (2024) adds up to eight, which is a symbol of power and a number associated with great abundance, prosperity, acquisition, power and also control. A lot of us in the spiritual community would call this number one of divine fortune. It's going to be a very abundant year."

In Chinese astrology, 2024 is the Year of of Dragon.

"The dragon is a symbol of power and wisdom," he said. "Chinese people in the old days believed that emperors were the incarnation of dragons. And so here again, we see the synchronicities between the Year of the Dragon and the number eight in western numerology."

Wang noted that 2024 will be an important year for people born under the astrological signs of Gemini, Pisces, Virgo and Sagittarius.

Those born under these signs, he said, should reexamine their lives from a higher perspective and decide what works for them and what doesn't.

"These four signs will experience a vey important transit in Saturn, which does not happen very often," he said. "This usually happens about once every seven or eight years...These people will be able to move forward with a lot more momentum."

Wang added that the number eight is also about karma.

"If you lay the number eight on its sign, it becomes the sign for infinity," he said. "Whatever you give out in the universe, it comes back to you. Give everything you can this year, and I guarantee that this universal number eight will reward you at a later stage. This is the reason I'm looking forward to the number eight because it's all about that infinity.

"What I'm saying to my audience is, if you have anything you want to manifest, don't hold back in 2024."
