There is still time to help sponsor the 23rd annual Faith Radio Golf Tournament set for Sept. 20 at Wynlakes Golf and Country Club.

“It’s hard to believe it's our 23rd year of this tournament, which has become one of the premier golf tournaments for our community,” said Billy Irvin, Faith Radio’s director of ministry relations. “I don’t think we ever saw this continuing to grow after 20 years. But much like our ministry, we continue to grow as hospitals have added us to their in-room media and our Dothan area is growing also.  Of course, our message is the very same, that Jesus loves you. He pursues a relationship with you, and you can certainly grow your faith as you tune into Faith Radio 89.1 FM.”

Irvin said the tournament has room for more sponsors, although the golfer limit of 200 has been reached. A waiting list for additional players has been established.  The morning flight begins at 7:30 a.m. followed by afternoon play at 12:45 p.m.

“One unique thing that one of our sponsors shared with me last year was that a sponsorship of the Faith Radio Golf Tournament is a great value at $750 because you are actually supporting two separate tournaments on Tuesday, Sept. 20, as we have a morning tournament and afternoon tournament,” Irvin said.

Irvin said research shows that more than 80 percent of Americans still listen to radio every week. He said ministries like WLBF are vital to offset other programming that Americans consume.

“Every day, filth is pumped over the air waves and cable lines into the minds of consumers. Amid the darkness of this negative content, Christian radio and video shines as a beacon of hope and encouragement,” he said. “Faith Radio is honored to leverage the power of media and use it in a Gospel-saturated, Christ-honoring way. We do this through our radio ministry, our social media profiles, our YouTube channel, our website, our blogs, and ministry magazine. It's a free magazine we send four times a year to over 8,000 people.”

The successful 2021 edition of the tournament followed challenging COVID restrictions in place during 2020. “Thankfully, we had another great year to help provide for our needs as a non-profit that does not sell advertising, netting enough to provide for over 22 days of operations for our network of stations as it takes over $2,000 per day,” he said.

Tournament sponsors include Mister Ben’s Auto Spa Express, Baptist Health, Bear Brothers Incorporated – Rush Stallings, Bishop Cabinets, Climate Control Equipment, Dr. Larry Epperson, Pigg Enterprises, Servpro of Montgomery, and many others.  To view a complete list of sponsors, visit Golf Tournament Sponsors | Faith Radio.

Beautiful Wynlakes offers the perfect setting for a day of golf, food, and fellowship in Christ.

“We are so thankful to partner with Wynlakes for this event as they have a premier location, and the service from their staff and food team is outstanding,” Irvin said. “Another unique thing about our golf tournament our participants really enjoy is how we utilize the fabulous Wynlakes ballroom for our lunch, trophy presentations, awards, and prizes. Last year we gave away six overnight vacations, including golf retreats and beach trips, as well as a Blackstone Griddle.”

Irvin said Wynlakes caters the breakfast, lunch, and snack, and that the special ham and cheese biscuits are always a hit in the afternoon. “Of course, our signature item is the Conecuh Sausage that we cook out on the course all day long. There is nothing like a Conecuh dog to help with your golf game,” he said.
