'Spookiest cities in America': This central Pennsylvania town was ranked No. 2

You can probably already guess which small Pennsylvania town came in at number two on the list of spookiest cities in America.

Gettysburg, of course! That's according to security camera company Vivint, which recently set out to rank the spookiest towns in the United States.

The rankings were determined by multiple factors, including the number of ghost sightings, haunted places per 100,000 residents, and others.

State of Pennsylvania monument. Honors the 34,530 Pennsylvanians who fought at Gettysburg; 1,182 were killed, 3,177 wounded and 860 recorded as missing.

Gettysburg's score in the ranking came thanks to its extensive history of haunted locations and ghost sightings, Vivint said in the rankings.

Tourism in Gettysburg heavily capitalizes on the extensive history of the location, with businesses offering ghost tours of many of these allegedly haunted properties.

The only town which beat out Gettysburg nationwide was Estes Park, Colorado, which is home to the Stanley Park hotel, the inspiration for Stephen King's famous book, "The Shining."

In a nationwide survey, Vivint also found that 1 in 10 Americans with security systems had seen some form of paranormal activity on their security system. It also said that 44% of Americans said they would move into a home if they knew it was haunted, and that 1 in 4 believed they had already lived in a house that was haunted.
