Sport shorts: LaMoure/LM gets five named to 9-man football all-state team

Nov. 14—The North Dakota High School Activities Association released the 2021 9-man football all-state honors Monday.

While LaMoure/Litchville-Marion's efforts at a repeat 9-man state championship fell short, the Loboes still had five athletes recognized at the all-state level.

Colton Ness, a senior tight end for the Loboes was named to the 9-man, first-team offense, all-state roster while Garrett Hebl ended his prep career as a first-team, all-state linebacker. Tate Mart, Brock Wendel and Anthony Hanson all received second-team honors.

New Salem/Almont wound up the 9-man state champs this year, topping Cavalier 28-26 in the state championship game. New Salem's AJ Heins picked up first-team offense honors for the Holsteins while Ty Wolding and Levi Becker were named to the first-team defense. New Salem-Almont head coach Steve Kleinjan was named the 9-man football Coach of the Year.

Cavalier's, Landon Carter, was recognized as 9-man's Powerade Outstanding Senior Athlete of the Year.
