Sport Shorts: Magicians are top-pick entering 2022 soccer season

Aug. 12—BISMARCK — Defending Western Dakota Association (WDA) champion Minot High is the coaches' preseason pick to defend its conference boys' soccer crown this season.

The Magicians earned three first place votes to go along with 42 points. Bismarck Century was a close second with 40 points and a pair of first place votes.

Bismarck High was third with 36 points and a first place vote. Jamestown and Legacy tied for fourth with each receiving a first place vote and 32 points. Mandan wound up sixth with 16 points while Dickinson and Williston both received 13 points to tie for the seventh spot.

Teams received seven points for a first place vote; six for second place; five for third place; four points for fourth place; three points for fifth place; two points for sixth and one point for seventh.

Team officials did not include their squad in voting. The annual poll was conducted by WDA Executive Secretary Matt Mullally.
