Sporting goods store opens Thursday in Kansas City area with three days of freebies

Play It Again Sports will open a new location Thursday in Liberty.

Located at 878 Route 291, the store will sell a variety of used sporting equipment: bikes, golf clubs, treadmills, baseball gloves, lacrosse sticks and more.

“I’m thrilled to open my business in such a warm, welcoming, sports-oriented community like Liberty,” said local owner Kris Wheeler. “As a father to four children, I know how expensive it can be to buy new sporting equipment, especially for a growing child. I want to offer Liberty a location to purchase new and used merchandise to save parents’ time and money while also providing their children with the athletic equipment necessary for them to play the sport they love.”

Play It Again Sports also buys used sporting equipment. No appointment is necessary to sell.

The grand opening will feature a variety of goodies for customers: $25 gift cards for the first 25 people in line (one per family) and raffles for Chiefs tickets on Thursday; free tote bags with purchases on Friday; and free Lamar’s Donuts and Chick-Fil-A on Saturday.

It will be the second Play It Again Sports in the metro. The other is at 7151 W. 135th St. in Overland Park.
