Sports briefs: Franman stuns Homecare in RMHL; Post 7 winter works begin Jan. 28

ROCHESTER - Franman Transportation had the upset special on Monday in the Rochester Men's Hockey League with a 5-4 win over Homecare of New England.

Nate DeWolf led Franman (4-9-1) with a hat trick. Kam Kondrup and Jake Martin also scored. Zane Angelopoulos made 27 saves in goal.

For Homecare (7-4-3), Cody Stevens had two goals, while Logan Hatch and Kory Ferullo notched one apiece. Kyle Carignan added two assists. Nick Paxton stopped 23 shots.

RSA Realty got the better of Zoeller Realty Group, 5-3, behind three points each from Paul Trepanier (2-1) and Peter Keilty (1-2). Ryan Ellis and Tom Auger each had a goal for RSA (3-10-1), who got 26 saves from Brayden McGarry.

Zoeller (4-9-1) was led by two goals from Mike Nasso and one from Mark Zoeller. Lennie Foss made 31 saves.

League-leading Leavitt Electric held off second-place DeNiro Development, 6-5, behind two goals each from Josh Terry and Dave Robicheau. DeNiro led 3-2 after the first period, but Leavitt rebounded to take the lead for good, 5-3 after two stops.

Ed Conroy and Chris Hitchcock (assist) each scored one goal for Leavitt (10-1-3). Tyler Briand made 22 saves.

Chris Atwood had a goal and two assists for DeNiro (9-4-1). CJ Jerry, Josh Anderson, Doug Larson and Tom Gillum each scored one goal. Mike Sullivan stopped 24 shots.

Rochester Post 7 legion baseball preliminary tryout/winter workout January 28

ROCHESTER - A preliminary tryout/winter workout for the upcoming Rochester Post 7 American Legion baseball season is Saturday, January 28 at Spaulding High School.

The event, which is open to kids between 13 and 19 years old from students at Coe-Brown, Farmington, Kingswood, Prospect Mountain, Nute and Rochester, will run from 8 a.m. to noon. There is no cost.

Post 7 will have two new programs this summer season - prep legion (13 to 15 years old) and junior legion (14 to 17 years old). The senior legion team is open to 14- to 19-year-olds.

Registration for upcoming EYLA spring season

EXETER - Registrations for the upcoming Exeter Youth Lacrosse Association season is underway at www.exeteryouthlacrosse.org.

The league is for boys and girls between kindergarten and eighth grade in the Exeter-area school systems.
