Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire added to his team's signing class Wednesday with the addition of defensive lineman Tre'Darius Brown from Natchitoches (La.) Central.

Defensive lineman Tre'Darius Brown from Natchitoches (La.) Central signed a letter of intent with Texas Tech on Wednesday, the first day of the national signing period that runs through April 1.

Brown, announced by Tech as 6-foot-2 and 302 pounds, committed to the Red Raiders in May. Over the past year, he also attracted scholarship offers from Louisiana-Lafayette, Missouri, Northwestern State and Tulane.

"We’re excited to add another QB hunter in the trenches with Tre’Darius," Red Raiders coach Joey McGuire said in Tech's announcement. "As I said in December, our teams are always going to be built up front. We believe Tre’Darius’ best football is ahead of him as he has the length and the tenacity we look for in defensive linemen. We can’t wait to get him to Lubbock this summer."

Tech added 24 players on scholarship and three preferred walk-ons during the December signing period.

Brown was credited with 14 tackles for loss the past two seasons. He was second-team all-District 1-5A his junior year and honorable mention all-district his senior year.

Thompson already is in Mobile and will take part in the remaining practices this week. He's on the National team. Former Tech defensive end Tyree Wilson also is a part of the Senior Bowl process, though he's recovering from surgery on a broken foot that will keep him off the field.

Thompson played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl last week and got four carries for 6 yards on the American team, which won 19-17.
