šŸŒ± Sports Complex Purchase Approved + Free N95 Masks Coming Soon

Good morning, Roseville!

The Roseville Daily has everything you need to know to get this Wednesday started off with a bang.

Let's get to it!

First, today's weather:

Weā€™re looking at another day of sunny skies! Todayā€™s expected high is 63 degrees with an overnight low of 35. Winds remain light and variable at about 4-5 mph and humidity will be around 55% during the day.

Here are the top five stories today in Roseville:

  1. The City of Roseville is moving forward with the purchase of 20 acres on Phillip Road in West Roseville for a new long-field sports complex. This property will add to another adjacent 20 acres already owned by the city. The large scope of the complex will support local sports leagues and, hopefully, attract sports tourism. The city hopes to break ground in 2023 after the purchase is final. There will be an opportunity for the public to learn more about phase 1 of the project and to give input on the design plan at a Virtual Workshop on February 1st at 6:30 pm. (Whatā€™s Happening in Roseville)

  2. Hundreds lined the streets of Elk Grove Tuesday to say goodbye to Elk Grove Police Officer Tyler Lenehan, who was killed on his way to work by a wrong-way driver on Highway 99 in Sacramento. A procession carried Lenehan through the streets of Elk Grove and on to a mortuary in Rescue. The officer leaves behind a wife and two children. The driver who hit Lenehan is being charged with driving under the influence and murder. (CBS 13)

  3. You will soon be able to pick up free N95 face masks at your local pharmacy, thanks to a coming release of over 400 million masks from the federal government to help with the surge of omicron strain COVID-19. The masks are expected to reach some Walgreens, Costco, Samā€™s Club, CVS, Rite Aid, Albertsons affiliated companies, Walmart and community health center locations by the end of this week. Each person will be allowed up to three masks. This distribution is the largest handout of personal protective equipment in U.S. history, according to the Biden administration. (KCRA 3)
