Looking at this photo, it’s probably safe to assume that the first word that comes to mind is not fat.

Phat, perhaps, but model Barbara Palvin was shocked when a number of commenters responded to recent images from her debut in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue criticizing her body.

The 22-year-old Hungarian model and actress is one of this year’s five rookies and has been working in the industry since she was 13 years old. She’s walked the runway for Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu and Chanel and was also part of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show in 2012.

Vogue U.K. has called her a model to watch, comparing her to a cross between “a young Brooke Shields and Natalia Vodianova.“

While many fans have come to her defense, saying things like, “you’re not fat you’re HEALTHY” and “You’re such a role model to me. Thank you for existing and being yourself, you’re perfect the way you are,” it doesn’t change the fact that body-shaming is something women – even models – continue to face regardless of their size.
