Tech track & field

The Texas Tech men remained No. 2 in the second ranking of the season released Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, and the Red Raider women slipped three spots to No. 13.

The Red Raiders, hosting the Texas Tech Open & Multis last week, had Omamuyovwi Erhire and Zach Bradford move to No. 2 in NCAA Division I in the high jump (7 feet, 3 1/4 inches) and the pole vault (18-10 3/4), respectively. Courtney Lindsey, who had the weekend off, still holds the top spot in the 200 meters, having run an altitude-converted 20.48 seconds this season.

Washington took over the top spot in the men's ranking for the first time, fueled by seven distance runners who rank among the top 10 in Division I in the mile, the 3,000 meters, and-or the 5,000 meters.

The Tech women have four top-five national times or marks: Rosemary Chukwuma in the 60 meters (altitude-converted 7.11) and the 200 meters (altitude-converted 23.06), Demisha Roswell in the 60-meter hurdles (altitude-converted 8.00) and Onaara Obamuwagun in the triple jump (43-10 1/2).

Tech teams will be on the road for the first time this season on Friday and Saturday at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque.
