High school sports is now in the opening stages of state tournament time for Fall River area teams.

Girls volleyball: Diman vs. HS of Commerce

Division III preliminary round

HIGHLIGHTS: The 32ndseeded Bengals opened the playoffs by beating 33rd seed HS of Commerce in the Division III preliminary game at home. Hannah Martin led the way for the Bengals with six aces, 15 digs, served at a 98% clip with 27 assists. Lindsey Moniz finished with 10 aces, 13 kills, and 24 digs. Sarah Moniz had three aces, eight kills, and 15 digs while Kacie Lynch contributed an ace, nine kills, 16 digs, and three blocks. Avery Rounds (19 digs), Vitoria DeOliveira (10 digs) and Sadie Krauzyk (four kills, two blocks) each played well.

NEXT UP: The Bengals travels to face No. 1 seed Dennis Yarmouth on Friday at 5 p.m.

Girls volleyball: Westport vs. Cathedral 

Division V preliminary round

SCORE: Westport 3, Cathedral 0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-9)

LOCATION: Westport

DATE: Nov. 2

RECORD: Westport 12-7 (5-3 in Mayflower Comprehensive)

HIGHLIGHTS: The 26th seeded Wildcats swept all three sets and beat 39th seed Cathedral at home. Senior setter Taylor Perry led Westport with 12 assists, 12 service points, seven aces, and a kill shot. Senior outside hitter Kyleigh Finglas had seven kills, 11 service points and four aces. Junior Sarah Perry finished with eight service points and three aces. Freshman Taliyah Raiche contributed eight service points and an ace.

NEXT UP: The Wildcats travel to face West Bridgewater on Friday.

Girls soccer: Atlantis Charter at South Shore Christian Academy

SCORE: Atlantis Charter 2, South Shore Christian Academy 0

LOCATION: South Shore Christian Academy

DATE: Oct. 31

RECORD: Atlantis Charter, 6-3-1

HIGHLIGHTS: The Tritons closed the regular season with a win against South Shore Christian Academy on Halloween. Caitlynn Cabral and Cidney Barboza each scored goals for Atlantis Charter. Jayda Braga was named Player of the Match.

NEXT UP: The 46th seeded Tritons travel to 19th seed Blue Hills in a Division V preliminary round.
