Sports scores, highlights: Durfee girls soccer stuns Bridgewater-Raynham late

The fall sports season is underway in the Fall River area.

Girls soccer: Durfee at Bridgewater Raynham

SCORE: Durfee 3, Bridgewater-Raynham 2

LOCATION: West Bridgewater

DATE: Sept. 27

RECORD: Durfee, 5-3

HIGHLIGHTS: The Hilltopper senior captain Destani Alua-Rioux scored with four minutes remaining to lift Durfee past league opponent Bridgewater-Raynham. Freshman Maddie Hargraves netted a pair of goals in the win for the Hilltoppers. Abigail Carreiro was outstanding in net for the win. "Great game between both teams," Durfee head coach Amie Lauren Roach said. "[It] was dominated by our offensive and defense being an absolute wall. The player of the game is our goalie Abigail [Carreiro], who had the best game I have ever seen her have."

NEXT UP: Durfee takes on Apponequet on Saturday.

Girls soccer: Diman vs. Tri-County

SCORE: Diman 3, Tri-County 2

LOCATION: Diman

DATE: Sept. 27

RECORD: Diman, overall 4-1-1; conference 2-0

HIGHLIGHTS: The Bengals came away with a narrow win over Tri-County at home. Sabrina Angeli, Elizabeth Kinnane and Filipa Duarte each scored goals for Diman. Kiara Almeida collected two assists while central defender Natalie Raposa played excellent defense.

NEXT UP: Diman hosts Southeastern on Thursday.

Girls soccer: Westport at Holbrook

SCORE: Holbrook 5, Westport 0

LOCATION: Holbrook

DATE: Sept. 27

RECORD:  Westport, 1-5 (0-1 in Mayflower Small)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Wildcats were blanked by Holbrook. "We continue to work on building confidence in our passing game," Westport head coach Gary Muello said.

NEXT UP: Westport faces West Bridgewater on Thursday.

Girls soccer: Atlantis Charter vs. Avon

SCORE: Atlantis Charter 2, Avon 1

LOCATION: Atlantis Charter

DATE: Sept. 27

RECORD: Atlantis Charter, 2-1

HIGHLIGHTS: The Tritons won their second straight home game of the season, beating visiting Avon. CC Cabral and Destiny Rodney (game winner) each scored goals for Atlantis Charter. Cidney Barboza’s bravery earned her the Player of the Match award for the Tritons.

NEXT UP: Atlantis Charter travels to Bristol-Aggie on Friday.

Boys soccer: Westport vs. Holbrook

SCORE: Westport 3, Holbrook 0

LOCATION: Westport

RECORD: Westport, 6-0 (2-0 in Mayflower Athletic Conference Small)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Wildcats remain unbeaten after blanking Holbrook at home. Hunter Brodeur netted a pair of goals for Westport. Ben Boudria finished with a goal and an assist. Antonio Dutra Africano added an assist. Noah Amaral had six saves in net for the shutout. The defensive unit of Marcos Dutra Africano, Ryan Borges, Nick DosVais, and Zachary Lopes played strong.

Boys soccer: Diman 4, Tri County 2

SCORE: Diman 3, Tri-County 2

LOCATION: Tri-County

DATE: Sept. 27

RECORD: Diman, 3-3 record (2-0 in Mayflower Large)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Bengals won an important road game against Tri-County. Sean Borges scored two goals for Diman. Sean Cordeiro and Aiden Furtado each scored a goal. Andrew Gesner, Carlos dos Santos, and Nevehn Jose contributed assists.

NEXT UP: Diman travels to Southeastern on Thursday.

Girls volleyball: Atlantis Charter vs. Calvary Chapel

SCORE: Atlantis Charter 3, Calvary Chapel 0  (25-19, 25-20, 22-25, 26-24)

LOCATION: Atlantis Charter

RECORD: Atlantis Charter, 3-5

HIGHLIGHTS: The Tritons took three of four matches against visiting Calvary Chapel. Victoria Gomes led Atlantis with seven aces (game winner), two kill shots and three digs.

Adrianna Bates finished with seven aces and five kill shots.

Golf: Joseph Case at Dighton-Rehoboth

SCORE: Dighton-Rehoboth 252, Joseph Case 319

LOCATION: Hillside Country Club

RECORD: Joseph Case, 1-6 (1-4 in South Coast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Cardinals dropped a road match to league opponent Dighton-Rehoboth. Ryan Farrell was top scorer for Case, winning another head-to-head match with a score of 40.

NEXT UP: The Cardinals travel to Apponequet on Wednesday.

Golf: Somerset vs. Bourne

SCORE: Somerset Berkley 249, Bourne 265

LOCATION: Swansea Country Club

DATE: Sept. 27

RECORD: Somerset Berkley, 5-6 (2-4 in South Coast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Raiders defeated league opponent Bourne on Tuesday. Brandon Silva and Mason Sullivan led SBR with nice rounds of 38 and 42, respectively. Alex Crook and Max Hansen, among others, also played well and continue to improve. "The kids played really well and the team had their lowest team total of the year," Raiders head coach Ben Machado said.

NEXT UP: SBR travels to Old Rochester on Wednesday.

Golf: Westport vs. Diman

SCORE: Diman 5.5, Westport 3.5

LOCATION: Swansea Country Club

DATE: Sept. 27

RECORD: Westport, 4-3 (4-2 in Mayflower Athletic Conference Small); Diman 3-2 in Mayflower Athletic Conference.

HIGHLIGHTS: Diman won a close match with Westport. Jacob Almedia shot 43 and Bob Leach, Kyle Stang and Hunter Quental all won their matches for the Bengals. Individual match winners for Westport were Cole Boudria and Cooper Spirlet.

NEXT UP: Westport hosts Bourne on Wednesday while Diman takes on Dartmouth Wednesday.

Cross country: Diman vs Norfolk Aggie, Old Colony

SCORE: Diman boys 23, Old Colony 36; Norfolk Aggie 27, Diman boys 27; Diman girls 22, Norfolk Aggie 34; Diman girls 16, Old Colony 47

LOCATION: Norfolk Aggie

RECORD: Diman boys, 2-1, Diman girls 3-0

HIGHLIGHTS: The Lady Bengals remain unbeaten on the season, after taking both meets from Old Colony and Norfolk Aggie. Nya Martinez finished second overall with a personal-best time of 22:49. Emma Foley finished third overall with a personal-best time of 23:39. Inez Medeiros placed fifth (24:02) while Eden McCausland took sixth place (24:17). Raeleigh Levesque finished ninth overall (25:42). For the boys, Will Ferreira finished fourth (18:59) and Tristan Tavares placed seventh (20:15). Other top finishers were Macaulay Crossman (20:28), Tanyon Reis (20:46), Evan Hetzler (20:54) and CJ Mendez (20:55).

Cross country: Somerset Berkley at Old Rochester

SCORE: Old Rochester boys 18, Somerset Berkley 39; Old Rochester girls 15, Somerset Berkley 50

LOCATION: Washburn Park

DATE: Sept. 27

RECORD: Somerset boys, 1-2; Somerset girls 0-3

HIGHLIGHTS: The Raiders dropped their meet against Old Rochester. Top four runners for the boys were Jack Hansen (18:43), Tyler Scanlon (19:34), Logan Pacheco (19:35) and Matthew Barboza (19:45). For the girls, Lara Nohra (26:32), Grace Kayata (28:30), Kaylee Cabral (29:14), Trinity Keyes (29:43) and Emmy Frias (29:44) each ran well.
