Sports scores, highlights: Durfee splits with Brockton, Atlantis co-op football falls

The fall sports season is underway in the Fall River area.

Boys soccer: Atlantis Charter at Joseph Case

SCORE: Atlantis Charter 3, Joseph Case 1

LOCATION: Joseph Case

RECORD: Atlantis Charter, 3-0; Joseph Case, 0-2

HIGHLIGHTS: The unbeaten Tritons won their third straight game, beating Case on the road. André Coelho-Filho netted a pair of goals in the victory for Atlantis Charter. Teammate Ryan Ferreira also scored a goal. the Cardinals' goal was scored by Gaoussou Traore. "A great team win against a quality Case team," Tritons head coach Nathan Mello said. "The second half saw great efforts from our defense and we are excited for our next match." Atlantis Charter hosts Tri-County on Tuesday while Case host Fairhaven.

Boys soccer: Durfee vs. Brockton

SCORE: Durfee 0, Brockton 0

LOCATION: Durfee

RECORD: Durfee, 2-0-1

HIGHLIGHTS: The unbeaten Hilltoppers tied their game with Brockton at home. "In a hard-fought game, the boys put out a great team effort to earn a point in their league opener," Durfee head coach Tiberio Melo said. The Hilltoppers host Somerset Berkley on Saturday.

Girls Soccer: Durfee at Brockton

SCORE: Brockton 4, Durfee 3

LOCATION: Brockton

DATE: Sept. 15

RECORD: Durfee, 2-2 (0-1 in Southeast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Hilltoppers dropped their second straight game, losing to Brockton on the road. Freshman Maddie Hargraves scored two goals for Durfee. Sister Julia Hargraves added a goal. Defender Julia Matos was named Player of the Game. The Hilltoppers travel to Somerset Berkley on Saturday.

Girls soccer: Atlantis Charter vs. Bristol-Aggie

SCORE: Atlantis Charter 2, Bristol-Aggie 1

LOCATION: Atlantis Charter

DATE: Sept. 15

RECORD: 1-1 (1-0 in Independent League)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Atlantis Charter girls soccer captured their first win in program's history with a victory over Bristol-Aggie. Destiny Rodney scored the game winner with 10 minutes to play. Kassidy Mello and Cidney Barbosa each chipped in with assists. The Tritons finished with 21 shots. Clara Dias was awarded player of the match. Isabella St Pierre was solid in goal. Atlantis Charter travels to Carver on Saturday.

Girls soccer: Diman

SCORE: Diman 7, Upper Cape 1

LOCATION: Upper Cape

RECORD: Diman, 2-1

HIGHLIGHTS: The Bengals took care of business on Wednesday against Upper Cape. Six players score in the victory Diman. Filipa Duarte led the way with a pair of goals. She now has four in the last two games. Elizabeth Kinnane, Kiara Almeida, Lilah Krauzyk, Natalie Raposa, and Chyenne Brito also scored goals. Almeida had two assists while Kinnane, Meagan Arruda, and Kaia Landry also registered a point. "Great team play and ball distribution all match," Bengals head coach Floriano Lima said.

Football: Atlantis Charter at Monomoy

SCORE: Monomoy 48, Atlantis Charter 6

LOCATION: Monomoy

DATE: Sept. 15

RECORD: Atlantis Charter, 1-1

HIGHLIGHTS: The Tritons co-op football team suffered their first loss of the season in a tough loss against unbeaten Monomoy. Jonathan Pfeffer threw for the Tritons' lone score in the contest to Isaiah Poydress. Atlantis Charter was without starting quarterback freshman Davion Adediran. Aiden Lanciault, Jadyn Pavao, Brady Viveiros and Kameron Silva all left the game due to an injury. "[We] didn’t have the horses to compete and deserve the loss," Atlantis Charter head coach Kazeem Adediran said. "It was an humbling experience."

Field hockey: Westport at West Bridgewater

SCORE: West Bridgewater 6, Westport 2

LOCATION: West Bridgewater

DATE: Sept. 15

RECORD: Westport, 0-2

HIGHLIGHTS: The Wildcats dropped their game against West Bridgewater on the road. Avery Avila scored two goals for Westport. She also had three defensive saves. Molly Bazinet chipped in with an assist. Hannah Abrams had nine saves in net, including a diving save. The Wildcats travel to Wareham on Monday.

GOLF: Durfee vs. Dartmouth

SCORE: Dartmouth 122, Durfee 98

LOCATION: Fall River Country Club

DATE: Sept. 15

RECORD: Durfee, 2-1 (1-1 in Southeast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Hilltoppers dropped their first match of the season against league opponent Dartmouth. Durfee notables were Ethan Tho, who shot a 39 and Brady Sullivan finished with a 42. The Hilltoppers host New Bedford on Tuesday.

GOLF: Westport at Upper Cape

SCORE: Upper Cape 7, Westport 2

LOCATION: Sandwich Hollows golf course

DATE: Sept. 15

RECORD: Westport, 2-2 (2-1 in Mayflower)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Wildcats lost their match against Upper Cape on the road. Owen Boudria won his match, making him 3-0 on the season in match play. Avery Viveiros had the low round for Westport with a 43 and tied his match. Abby Forbes also tied her match.

Golf: Joseph Case at Greater New Bedford

SCORE: Greater New Bedford 288, Case 342

LOCATION: Whaling City Golf Club

DATE: Sept. 15

RECORD: 0-2 (0-3 in South Coast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Cardinals lost their match to Greater New Bedford. Top scorer for Case was junior Ryan Farrell. Junior Connor Lloyd shot his best match of the year with a 53. Case host Bourne at Touisset Country Club on Friday.

SCORE: Joseph Case 3, Durfee 0 (25-12,25-15,25-22)

RECORD: 4-1 (3-0 in South Coast Conference); Durfee, 2-2

HIGHLIGHTS: The Cardinals took three straight game against non-league opponent Durfee. Olivia Silva had 22 assists for Case. Hannah Storm finished with 11 kill shots while Loagan Brown had 7 kill shots and Jamie Moniz chipped in with six kill shots. Lauren Kuchar had 10 kill shots for the Hilltoppers. Gabby Farias finished the night with seven kill shots and Alexis Lanye held down the back row with 10 digs. The Cardinals face Greater New Bedford on Wednesday while Durfee hosts Brockton on Friday.

Girls volleyball: Atlantis Charter vs. Rising Tide

SCORE: Rising Tide 3, Atlantis Charter 2 (23-25, 25-17, 25-23, 23-25,15-25)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Tritons lost a close match with the visiting Rising Tide. Lizbeth Perez had three aces, two kill shots and three digs for Atlantis Charter. Victoria Gomes contributed eight aces, six kill shots and two digs. Rebecca de Moreas finished with five aces and five kill shots. Charlotte Medeiros ended up with five aces, two kill shots and two blocks. The Tritons travel to Calvary Chapel on Friday.
