Sports scores, highlights: Joseph Case, Durfee field hockey stay unbeaten on the season

The fall sports season is underway in the Fall River area.

Take a look at the highlights from Monday's local high school action:

Field hockey: Joseph Case at Westport

SCORE: Joseph Case 4, Westport 0

LOCATION: Westport

DATE: Sept. 26

RECORD: Joseph Case, 7-0 (4-0 in South Coast Conference); Westport, 0-4

HIGHLIGHTS: The unbeaten Cardinals received a pair of goals from Lexi Yost and Megan Smith in their win over Westport. Emma Bouchard, Jenna Benfeito and Brooke Orton and Smith each collected assists. Anna Michaud had seven saves in net for the shutout for Case. Kaelyn Lecomte, Brooke Perron, Rylie Macdonald, Emma Plante and Addie Carreiro each were solid on defense. Hannah Abrams had seven saves in net for the Wildcats. Avery Avila, Molly Bazinet and Madeleine Melnyk each played strong.

NEXT UP: Westport takes on Southeastern Thursday while Case host Wareham at home on Wednesday.

Field hockey: Durfee at Apponequet

SCORE: Durfee 4, Apponequet 0

LOCATION: Apponequet

DATE: Sept. 26

RECORD: Durfee, 6-0-1 (3-0 in Southeast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Hilltoppers won a non-league matchup with Apponequet to remain unbeaten on the season. Shakira Cadet netted a pair of goals in the win. Toni Freitas had a goal and two assists. Ellia Delisle also scored a goal for Durfee. Kacey Curran contributed a pair of assists. Kailey Hutchison had four saves for the fourth shutout of the season. "Today was another team win for us, which has been our goal this season," Hilltopper head coach Nicole Henrique said. "The grass was definitely a transition for us and changes the game for sure. We took a little bit to adjust and definitely stepped it up in the second half."

Boys soccer: Atlantis Charter vs. Hull

SCORE: Hull 2, Atlantis Charter 1

LOCATION: Atlantis Charter

DATE: Sept. 26

RECORD: Atlantis Charter, 4-2

HIGHLIGHTS: The Tritons lost a tight game with Hull at home. André Coelho-Filho scored the lone goal for Atlantis Charter. "A tough loss to a talented and hard working team," Nathan Mello said. "We have a lot to learn from this and we plan on making this improvement efforts during practice week."

NEXT UP: Atlantis Charter travels to Tri-County on Friday.

Boys soccer: Joseph Case at Old Rochester

SCORE: Old Rochester 6, Joseph Case 0

LOCATION: Old Rochester

DATE: Sept. 26

RECORD: Joseph Case, 0-4-1

HIGHLIGHTS: The Cardinals were blanked by league opponent Old Rochester. "The match basically was decided by size and experience," Case head coach Steve Manteiga said. "At the end of the day, it’s just two teams going in a different direction. Proud of my boys. Not many freshmen or sophomores can say they’re logging in 70 to 80 minutes a game."

NEXT UP: The Cardinals hosts Dighton-Rehoboth at home on Wednesday.

Boys soccer: Somerset Berkley vs. Dighton-Rehoboth

SCORE: Dighton-Rehoboth 2, Somerset Berkley 0

LOCATION: Somerset Berkley

RECORD: 3-3-1 (3-2-1 in South Coast Conference) 

HIGHLIGHTS: The Raiders were shut out by league opponent Dighton-Rehoboth. Evan Furtado stopped two saves.

NEXT UP: Somerset Berkley travels to Greater New Bedford next Monday.

Girls soccer: Somerset Berkley at Dighton-Rehoboth

SCORE: Somerset Berkley 2, Dighton-Rehoboth 1

LOCATION: Dighton-Rehoboth

RECORD: Somerset Berkley, 4-3-1 (4-2-1 in South Coast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Raiders came away with an exciting win against league opponent Dighton-Rehoboth on the road. Julia Costa and Jocelyn Wilson each scored a goal for SBR. Alex Cook collected an assist. Maddie Willis played entire game in net and finished with six saves in the 6 and 14 saves outside the 6.

NEXT UP: Somerset Berkley hosts Greater New Bedford next Monday.

Golf: Durfee at Somerset Berkley

SCORE: Durfee 293, Somerset Berkley 305

LOCATION: Swansea Country Club

DATE: Sept. 26

RECORD: Durfee, 5-1 (2-1 in Southeast Conference);  Somerset Berkley, 5-5

HIGHLIGHTS: The Hilltoppers received a great performance from Brady Sullivan and Ethan Tho in their win against Somerset Berkley. Sullivan shot a 43 while Tho finished with a 40. 

NEXT UP: Durfee hosts Bridgewater-Raynham on Tuesday while Somerset hosts Bourne Tuesday.

Golf: Westport at Cape Cod Tech.

SCORE: Westport 6.5, Cape Cod Tech. 2.5

LOCATION: Dennis Highlands Course

DATE: Sept. 26

RECORD: Westport, 4-2, (4-1 Mayflower Athletic Conference Small)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Wildcats won a close match against Cape Cod Tech. Individual match winners for the Wildcats were Ben Bernier, who also had the day's low round with a 45. Cole Boudria also shot well. Westport had three golfers — Owen Boudria, Bryton Graham and Liam McMahon — tie their matches, notching half a point for the match.

NEXT UP: Westport faces Diman on Tuesday.

Golf: Joseph Case at Fairhaven

SCORE: Fairhaven 270, Joseph Case 349

LOCATION: Whaling City Golf Club

DATE: Sept. 26

RECORD: Case, 1-6 (1-4 in South Coast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Cardinals lost their match against to Fairhaven. Junior Ryan Farrell was the top scorer for Case and second medalist in the match with a 44. Junior Connor Lloyd and sophomore Everett Rego each contributed in the match. "Ryan [Farrell] continues to be the team stalwart," Cardinals head coach David Farrell said.

NEXT UP: Case travels to Dighton-Rehoboth on Tuesday.

Girls volleyball: Atlantis Charter vs. Randolph

SCORE: Atlantis Charter 3, Randolph 0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-13)

LOCATION: Atlantis Charter

DATE: Sept. 26

RECORD: Atlantis Charter, 2-5

HIGHLIGHTS: The Tritons swept all three matches against Randolph. Adrianna Bates led Atlantis Charter with nine aces and two digs. Victoria Gomes contributed 14 aces and four kill shots. Rebecca de Moreas finished with nine aces, two kill shots and a block.

NEXT UP: The Tritons will face Calvary Chapel on Tuesday.

Girls volleyball: Diman at Old Colony

SCORE: Diman 3, Old Colony 0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-15)

LOCATION: Old Colony

DATE: Sept. 26

RECORD: Diman 5-1 (2-0 in Mayflower League Large)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Bengals won their third straight game, beating Old Colony in three straight matches. Lindsey Moniz served at 19-for-22 clip and finished with 10 aces for Diman. Sarah Moniz contributed five kill shots. Hannah Martin served at 12-for-14 clip with four aces.

NEXT UP: The Bengals travel to Tri-County on Wednesday.

SCORE: Joseph Case 3, Fairhaven 0 (25-14, 25-9, 25-16)

LOCATION: Fairhaven

RECORD: Joseph Case, 6-1 (5-0 in South Coast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Cardinals swept all three games against league opponent Fairhaven. Hannah Storm had another big day with 14 kill shots, six digs, and two aces. Olivia Silva had 20 assists while Jamie Moniz finished with six kill shots, seven digs, and a block. Loagan Brown had her best game of the season with seven kill shots, seven digs, and six aces. Sophia Conos played great with eight service points and six assists. Ava Silva and Brianna Campos played their usual great defense in the front and back.

NEXT UP: Joseph Case hosts Dartmouth on Wednesday.

Girls volleyball: Somerset Berkley at Old Rochester

SCORE: Old Rochester 3, Somerset Berkley 0 (21-25, 16-25, 17-25)

LOCATION: Old Rochester

RECORD: Somerset Berkley, 3-3 (2-3 in South Coast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Raiders dropped three straight games against Old Rochester. Sophia Schoonover had three kill shots and two blocks for SBR. Abigail Vieira chipped in with three kill shots and 12 digs.

NEXT UP: Somerset Berkley hosts Bourne on Wednesday.

Girls volleyball: Westport vs. Tri-County

SCORE: Tri-County 3, Westport 2

LOCATION: Westport

DATE: Sept. 26

RECORD: Westport, 3-4 (1-1 Mayflower Athletic Conference Small).

HIGHLIGHTS: The Wildcats lost a five-set match against Tri-County. Kyleigh Finglas led the way for Westport with 11 kill shots, six service points, and two aces. Taylor Perry contributed 18 assists, 11 service points, and six aces. Amari Crump finished with eight service points and four aces.

NEXT UP: Westport hosts Southeastern on Wednesday.
