Sports scores, highlights: Somerset Berkley hoop teams split with Seekonk, Case teams fall

The winter high school season is midway through the season for Fall River area teams.

Boys basketball: Somerset Berkley vs. Apponequet

SCORE: Somerset Berkley 67, Apponequet 54

LOCATION: Somerset Berkley

DATE: Feb. 3

RECORD: Somerset Berkley, 9-6 (6-5 in South Coast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Raiders defeated league opponent Apponequet at home. Brendan McDonald had a team-high 20 points for SBR. Finn Bjork chipped in with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Mason Medeiros had 13 points. Ian Sullivan had eight rebounds and played extremely well on defense in the win. The Raiders led at halftime, 33-28. "We played terrific defense with lots of intensity all around," SBR head coach Bob Slater said.

NEXT UP: The Raiders travel to Fairhaven on Monday.

Boys basketball: Case vs. Seekonk

SCORE: Seekonk 52, Case 44

LOCATION: Case

RECORD: Case, 2-13

HIGHLIGHTS: The Cardinals lost at home to league opponent Seekonk. Landon Cayton led the way for Case with a team-high 17 points. All proceeds from the boys home game was donated to the Cole Strong Fundraiser for the Slaiding Family.

NEXT UP: The Cardinals host Wareham on Tuesday.

Girls basketball: Somerset Berkley at Apponequet

SCORE: Apponequet 48, Somerset Berkley 42

RECORD: Somerset Berkley, 9 - 7 (9-3 in South Coast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Raiders dropped a road game against league opponent Apponequet. Mia Gentile had a team-high14 points for SBR. Gabriella Nugent finished with 12 points.

HIGHLIGHTS: The Cardinals lost a close battle with league opponent Seekonk on the road. Liberty Gazaille had a team-high 14 points for Case. Brooke Orton finished with 12 points.
