Sports scores, highlights: Somerset, Diman co-op hockey teams take care of business

The winter high school term is nearing the end of the regular season for Fall River area teams.

Take a look at highlights from Wednesday's local high school action:

Boys Ice hockey: Diman/ Durfee/Westport vs. Greater New Bedford

SCORE: Diman/Durfee/Westport 3, Greater New Bedford 2

HIGHLIGHTS: The Bengal collected a tight victory over Greater New Bedford at home. Jacob Almeida led Diman/Durfee/Westport with a pair of goals and two assists. Landen Freitas chipped in with a goal and two assists while Bryce Medeiros finished with two assists. Aidan Monaghan got the start in net and stopped 23 of 25 shots for the win. .

NEXT UP: The Bengals host Dartmouth in a rematch on Saturday.

Boys Ice hockey: Somerset Berkley at Old Rochester

SCORE: Somerset Berkley 7, Old Rochester/Fairhaven 1

LOCATION: Tabor Travis Roy Rink

RECORD: Somerset Berkley, 15-1

HIGHLIGHTS: The Raiders took care of business against Old Rochester/Fairhaven co-op team on the road. Luke Gauvin, Davis Sullivan and Jack Rothwell each collected two goals and an assist for SBR. Aaron Preston finished with a goal and an assist. Adyn Marcos and Noah Taylor ended with a pair of assists each. Brandon Silva made 30 saves in net for the win.

NEXT UP: The Raiders travel to Dartmouth on Friday.

Girls basketball: Westport vs. Avon

SCORE: Westport 44 Avon 14

LOCATION: Westport

RECORD: Westport, 14-4

HIGHLIGHTS: The Wildcats had an easy time with Avon at home. Top performers for Westport were Korynne Holden (15 points, four steals and two rebounds) and Leah Sylvain (13 points, six assists and eight steals). Other players who hit the stat sheet were Jenna Egbe (four points), Sarah Perry (three points), Molly Costa (three points), Julia George (two points), Tess Silvia (two points) and Shelby Orr (two points).

HIGHLIGHTS: The Bengals snapped a two-game losing streak with a road win over Bishop Connolly. Avery Rounds poured in a game-high 22 points for Diman. Cindy Bui chipped in with nine points and Evey Fernandes finished with seven points. Julia Latour and Lizzy Kinnane ended with six points in the win.

NEXT UP: The Bengals travel to Nantucket on Thursday.

Boys basketball: Case vs. Bishop Connolly

SCORE: Case 64, Bishop Connolly 56

LOCATION: Case

DATE: Feb. 15

RECORD: Case, 4-15; Bishop Connolly, 5-13

HIGHLIGHTS: The Cardinals captured the victory on Senior Night against Bishop Connolly. Landon Cayton led Case with a team-high 24 points. Will Morin added 16 points and Cayden Gonsalves finished with nine points. Aiden Parent (eight points) and Chris Gaboriault (seven points) hit the score sheet. Jah Stephenson had a game-high 26 points for the Cougars.

NEXT UP: The Cardinals play their season finale at Fairhaven on Friday while Connolly hosts Westport Friday.
