Sports scores, highlights for Thursday: Hargraves sisters lift Durfee soccer to first win
The fall sports season is well underway in the Fall River area.

Girls soccer: Durfee vs. Old Rochester
SCORE: Durfee 3, Old Rochester 0

HIGHLIGHTS: The Hilltoppers captured their first win of the season, beating non-league opponent Old Rochester. Junior Julia Hargraves scored a pair of goals in the victory for Durfee. Freshman attacking midfielder Madeline Hargraves scored the eventual game winning goal in the first half. Abigail Carreiro had three saves in net. The Hilltoppers travel to Dighton-Rehoboth on Saturday.
Boys soccer: Diman vs. Durfee
SCORE: Durfee 3, Diman 0
LOCATION: Diman

RECORD: Durfee 1-0; Diman 0-1
HIGHLIGHTS: The HIlltoppers opened the 2022 season with a road win against neighboring Diman. Landon Medeiros netted a pair of goals and chipped in with an assist for Durfee. Thomas Goncalves also had a goal in the win. "It was a great team effort and a solid defense from the back four Krispin Sokol, Landon Freitas, Andrew Sanft and Gilberto Correia," Hilltopper head coach Tiberio Melo said. Durfee will host Dighton-Rehoboth on Saturday.
"Proud of the way the boys played tonight. We have a young squad and can only build from this game," said Diman coach Emanuel Botelho.
Diman plays Westport Monday at 6 p.m. at home.
Field hockey: Westport vs. Bishop Stang
SCORE: Bishop Stang 3, Westport 0

HIGHLIGHTS: Despite a strong showing from eighth-grader Makayla Grace, junior Avery Avila and senior Milly Bazinet, the young Wildcats squad dropped their season opener against non-league opponent Bishop Stang. Hannah Abrams had seven saves in net for Westport. "More than half of our team is 7th and 8th graders," Wildcat head coach Jacquelyn Legendre said. Westport travels to Pope John Paul on Monday.
Girls Volleyball: Atlantis Charter vs. South Shore Christian
SCORE: South Shore Christian 3, Atlantis Charter 0 (25- 27, 18-25, 15-25)

RECORD: 0-1
HIGHLIGHTS: Atlantis Charter dropped their opening match of the season. Victoria Silva led Tritons with eight aces, two kill shots and three digs. Teammate Kailany Ortiz-Garcia finished with five kill shots and six digs. Atlantis Charter hosts Cape Cod Tech. on Monday.
Golf: Durfee vs Somerset Berkley
SCORE: Durfee 95, Somerset Berkley 83
LOCATION: Fall River Country Club

RECORD: Durfee (1-0); Somerset Berkley (2-2)
HIGHLIGHTS: The Hilltoppers grabbed their first win of the season over Somerset Berkley at home. Brady Sullivan has the high scorer for Durfee with a team-best 42. Teammate Ethan Tho shot a 46. SBR's Alex Crook played well with a 47; he's broken 50 in all four matches this year and is the only one on the team to do so.
SBR plays Friday against Greater New Bedford Voke at Whaling City golf course.
